Popped in here to pick up some plants and trees. Found the prices astronomical compared with other nearby places.
Went to the cafe for coffee and cake. Huge cafe, like a motorway service station. Poor service (sort of self service but you have to find a member of staff). Asked for a cake and pointed to the one I wanted. Discussion between the staff and no one seemed to know what kind it was. Toffee and cream? Walnut? I bought it anyway. It was stale and hard at the edges. Coffee was lukewarm.
No atmosphere in the place.
Won't be back.

Popped in for quick visit. Decided on some food in the cafe. I had the macaroni cheese & chips & my wife had steak pie & roast potatoes. Both were very nice.

Visited today 5 January 2018 and went into restaurant for lunch. It was absolutely freezing customers were sitting with their jackets on. On speaking to one of the waitress staff asking if something wrong with the heating she didn't know but said they were very cold. Felt sorry for them working under these conditions. Let's just say the tea was warm but as soon as it hit the cup didn't stay warm.
The whole Garden centre was cold. Went into the Edinburgh woollen mill for a heat.
No management to be seen. Wished we hadn't gone there today.

Dropped in for a coffee and cake in the cafe. Hadn't visited in several years and we were disappointed to see how things had changed. The cafe is now a large shed at the back of the centre with no atmosphere, and clearly the management didn't want to waste money on heating- it was very cold and we sat in our jackets. The cakes were ok, but the coffee poor. Wouldn't go back.

Popped into Cardwell again. Still cannot find fault with it. We drive from the start of the Clyde pass the numerous garden centres in the valley and still reckon this is one of if not the best . Lovely setting, lovely people, good plants tasty food , everything at reasonable prices.
Santas grotto looks amazing sadly the man himself wasn't there on our visit, but , it is a busy time time of year for him..
Will return again( & again )
