I came to domaine de vertmarines with my family and we had a great time. The location is excellent. The staff are very friendly specially the Receptionniste. The villa we had was beautiful (v76)It is a perfect place to relax with your family. The staff are very friendly specially the receptinniste theres so much things to do around saint jean de monts and its only 30 minutes walk to the beach passing through the forest. It's just a shame that we only stayed 1 week...It is a place to recommend.

Room Tip: I can recommend the villa 76

We’ve just returned from a 1 week stay at Domaine de Vertmarine and had a very enjoyable holiday,

We were in the EEA 4 bed villas with private pool which was ideal for our party of 2 families of 4. The layout of the accommodation was also ideal with 2 * 2 bedrooms at opposite ends of the house, so each family had some privacy and it’s own bathroom.

The villa was spacious and nicely decorated, the pool was a decent size (but cold) and there was also a large terrace and garden, so plenty of room for a large group with active children. The kitchen was well equipped although lacked a microwave which would have been handy for warming croissants etc. The complex is peaceful and private with gated entry for security.

The area is lovely; the resort is a little way out of town so a car or bike was needed as there are no real shops or restaurants within walking distance. I’d recommend bringing or hiring bikes as there are numerous excellent cycle paths through the pine forests to the town or beach so you don’t need to ride on the roads and it’s a beautiful setting. Most of the bike rental places will deliver and collect at no extra charge and the bikes were new and well maintained.

The beaches were large and sandy– similar to Cornish beaches but less crowded – at least at low tide. There were decent waves for body boarding too. There is plentiful free parking near the beach which made a very pleasant change from the UK!

The weather was mixed for our stay with some heavy rain, overcast days and a couple of hot sunny days, but overall it was warmer than the UK and I think we were unlucky in that there were some freak storms in the area that week.

There are a few restaurants of one of the central streets running inland from the beach; these were reasonable quality (from high end to family pizza joints) with friendly and efficient service and reasonable prices. There are relatively few “proper” restaurants with sea views as most along the seafront are bars/creperies which seemed a wasted opportunity.

A few blocks further along past the Casino by the waterfall/statue of the naked lady there is more lively but less sophisticated strip of bars and amusements with delicious ice creams / crepes and loads of child-friendly attractions (Zorbs/go karts) etc. It seems at odds with the otherwise fairly genteel resort but good fun for the family nevertheless.

The only disappointment of our stay as noted by other reviews was the rather mercenary attitude of the complex with regard to additional costs. Lots of items you’d expect to be included for the price were additional – such as BBQs, TVs, cleaning, bedding, towels, pool heating, electricity and water.

We had to pay about €50 for our electricity for the week which seemed excessive as we were hardly there, and to avoid the €192 final cleaning charge had to spend most of the last day cleaning up. You also need to book a final inspection with the housekeeping team before checking out which we weren’t aware of so had to wait 15 mins which was frustrating as we were all packed and ready to go with a long drive ahead. They tried to charge us for not having cleaned the floor and toilets properly which we successfully argued against as the limescale marks were clearly not new and the vacuum cleaner in the villa was fairly feeble. Eventually they relented but it was hassle we could have done without on our departure and spoiled an otherwise enjoyable holiday.

The villa and pool were lovely, the only negative was the kitchen is too small for a family of 6. The site very clean and well kept. Although we were made aware of the extra cost of electricity and water and were very careful we were shocked to be charged an additional 119 Euro at checkout, 70 Euro of this was for topping up the pool! other guestes were equally upset at this charge which is not pointed out at any time. We were told that this was what the meter showed we had used but this appeared to be a standard charge as other guests had been charged the same. We felt we had been misled and treated very unfairly. Despite the very nice villa I would not book here again.

we spent a week there in July 2009. The pool was great and the villa was okay. Kitchen facilities were slightly dirty and the toilet has no ventilation. The washing machine broke down and flooded and it was not repaired during our stay. The main issue was the ADDITIONAL COSTS - you have to pay for electricity and water - £100 for a week for 3 adults and 2 small children. We took our own linen to avoid the extortionate charges but the sheets etc did not fit the King size beds. Tv and satellite extra and expensive and high cleaning costs. Despite assurance from 'Wake up in France' there were no opportunities for children to meet each other.
