After so many tiny dark rooms in France, the natural light and soft colours were most welcome. Our hosts greeted us and took the time to show us how everything worked. The suite information folder included restaurant recommendations and a couple of suggested driving itineraries which was a lovely bonus to our stay. Maggie and Ohm were always available to answer questions or offer suggestions. Having a bottle of wine, milk and water in the fridge and a treat basket made it easy to settle in quickly without making grocery shopping a first priority. We loved this comfortable, well equipped apartment and Sarlat is a great location for exploring the Dordogne valley.
Maggie and Ahm were perfect hosts - their apartment is spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished. It was the ideal place to stay to explore Sarlat and the surrounding country side. It's only a five minute walk to town. I can't recommend it highly enough. Perfect.
Highly Recommend!! It is fair to say that when we arrived at Maison Pierre D’Or we were more than a little tired from our car journey. However the warm welcome of our hosts Maggie and Ahm quickly turned our frowns upside down. We knew instantly from stepping through the front door of the Matisse apartment we were in good hands.
The apartment was impeccably equipt, the only thing missing was a nutcracker (which was provided the next day, without qualm) to open the locally sourced walnuts that our hosts had thoughtfully provided a bowl of in the apartment’s conservatory. The apartment was full of thoughtful gestures like this.
The whole apartment was clean and comfortable (including the extremely comfortable bed). It was a real joy to stay in this apartment and by far it has been our favourite place to stay during our whole vacation!
It was a little cool this spring for us to really enjoy the balcony, We enjoyed more than a few glasses of delicious wine (and the much appreciated welcome hamper :) in the conservatory, lounge and kitchen. - We were surprised by how spacious the apartment was for the price we paid- it's a gem!
Sarlat town was literally 5 mins walk away, which we made good use of for our daily bread walk - The bread in this area is so tasty, you end up buying more than one stick of bread.
We were truly sad to leave Maison Pierre D’Or. It was the best vacation we have had in a long time, and would highly recommend staying there if you are considering visiting Sarlat or the Périgord / Dordogne area.
My first time in France and was unsure what to expect. The town of Sarlat is a stunning medieval town that is unspoilt with lots of character. You will not go hungry in Sarlat with lots of restaurants selling fresh local foods. The apartment was very clean and comfy with the bed being extremely comfortable. There is a balcony area outside where you can sit in the Sun and drink wine.(Recommended)The hosts Maggie and Ahm were more like friends as they they gave me all the info i needed for a great week away. I would like to thank them for their hospitality and look forward to return next year.
A beautiful apartment.
Tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Maggie and Tony were the most perfect hosts.
Would love to return.
