We booked a family room for the 4 of us. The initial impression of Les Roches Blanches is that it is a modern clean hotel. Our room was situated on the first floor and benefited from a massive balcony over looking the harbour. The balconies on the other floors are of a more normal size with the rear rooms overlooking the pool. The front facing balconies tend to be in the shade during the heat of the day which we preferred. The room was not huge but perfectly adequate in size, the room is mainly for sleeping in so why would you want a huge room? There was ample room for the four of us and the balcony is there if you want a bit more space.

There is a swimming pool and a Jacuzzi situated to the rear of the hotel but we did not use either. We tend to use hotels as a base for exploration and not a destination so for us as long as the room is comfortable things like pools are extras that we can usually do without. What is important is that there is a car park, not huge but large enough, a car is virtually essential in Corsica and not having to worry about where to park your car is great.

We found the staff very friendly and helpful especially when my wife was a little under the weather. The hotel is situated on the road to the port so there can be some traffic noise when the ferries dock which seems to be every couple of days. However for us it was great to be able to watch the comings and goings of the ships and boats from our balcony. That said the name of the town should give away that there could well be an increase in traffic throughout the town, if you want absolute peace and quiet Porto Vecchio is probably not for you.

The hotel is around 500M from the bars and restaurants of the port area, a nice easy level walk but far enough away so late night noise should not keep you awake. The walk up the hill to the old town can be a bit of a struggle in the heat of the day but manageable at night, there is a road train if you really struggle. The old town is a lot more interesting than the port area but not really designed for the car.

Finding a perfect hotel is virtually impossible, there is always something that could be better or does not suit you. We like to have a fridge in our rooms which Les Roches Blanches does not have as standard but are usually available for €5 a day. Breakfast was €13 a day per person which seems to be around the standard price of breakfast in hotels in Corsica, we did not have breakfast at the hotel (or the other hotel we stayed at) preferring to discover other options. We were never pressured in to having to take the hotels breakfast offering, they just wanted to know so they knew the numbers they were catering for.

Overall a very pleasant stay and we would go back and stay again

We were hosted at this hotel for our holidays, the place is well located but we were not receiving the expected service for the price we payed, we spend a first night without air conditioning, it was just installed but they never check the serviceability before customers arrival, after the sleepless night we had a room change 24 hours later, they never compensate this fact because they consider the new room was a better quality, the breakfast is limited and they dont replace the food when is finished,I strongly dont recomend.

Madam,

The air conditioning was working before your arrival, everything is checked upon the season.
You only mentionned to us that it was not working the day after your arrival.
Why did you not tell us before? You knew that the reception was open untill 11pm.
As soon as you mentionned that to us we've upgrated you on a superior room blacony sea view.

Also reagrding the breakfast, it is not true to say that we do not replace the food!
We always ask if yeverything is alright and if you need more.

For exemple, beacause you are from spain you wanted olive oil for the breakfast and we gave it to you.

Over priced for a basic but sizeable double room. The room had a sea view, and was of a decent size but I did notice that the non sea view rooms were much smaller. Although spotlessly clean and modern, the furnishings were fairly basic.
The pool was a decent size with numerous loungers.
Breakfast was very basic, especially as it cost €12 euros.
The jacuzzi adjacent to the pool was charged !!
All in all a reasonable hotel for the one night transit during high season, but certainly not worth the money. ( € 175 per night single)

Room Tip: Pay extra for a sea view room

We made the booking 2 days before arrival (in July 2012) to Porto-Vecchio when most of the hotels were sold out, not much to choose from. I read the guys review> ok hotel. But very overpriced...
and would agree. To pay 170-190 eur per night for double room, additionally breakfast 15 eur per person is a bit much to a 3 star hotel which is also dated and not high quality! Could easily be 2 star. jacuzzi, hammam and sauna had to pay extra.
Location: very good, right by the sea, end of the road (so not much traffic noise).
Room type: There were standard (no balcony), superior with lake-mountain view and superior with sea view (both with balconies). Sea view meaning you are actually by the street, as between the sea and hotel was the street:) We were in superior with lake view, overlooking the pool as well. Enjoined the view.
Overall impression when entering the room is good, in closer look you see it could be so much better :).
Room: comfortable bed, mirror, big cupboard, counter to keep suitcase, relatively small TV, AC (could not regulate speed nor temperature, YOU can only switch it on or off).
Shower: simple towels, dryer, soap, shampoo, gel.
After cleaning the room it smelled like chlorine, when Asian girl cleaned it didn't and it was much better cleaned.
Maybe if to book advance you get lower price: 70 or 80 would be fair price.
Big plus was the pool and more quiet location.

For us it was mystery how In Corsica the hotel stars are given, it does not match overall European system. Some 2 star were more like 4 and so on...you cant trust the stars. The prices and stars don't match either.

Room Tip: Rooms with lake-mountain view is more quiet

Good hotel, clean, friendly staff not too far from Marina, would not recommend to people with walking difficulties as walk to old town very steep and no lift in hotel. The dog is lovely. We would go back again as Corsica is beautiful.
