Folegandros is a small greek island that gets almost deserted in winter time with just one road, two villages and one port with few tourist. Also is got few beaches with awesome sea water that can only be reached by boat depending on the wind. The Anemi Hotel is a paradise five star hotel that will give the opportunity to fully enjoy the island. Great facilities with a very well design large swimming pool, big room space and very good food. Service is short so do not aspect speed on your orders since the same service work morning, afternoon and evening on quite a long day but always ready to serve you as best as they can. I recommend you to learn the basic greek words like water, salt , oil that will help you a lot on your meals. A place to visit if you want to rest and enjoy nature.

I spent a week here last September together with my fiancé. Rooms are very well designed with very nice piece from Vita, Flos, and other nice brands. Everything works properly. I didn't like at all the small transparent window in the bathroom that allows anybody to see what's going on inside. Honestly I'd change those transparent glasses with opaque ones. Staff is kind and services good. Location is convenient to go almost anywhere on the island. good value for money.

Anemi should be a fantastic hotel: It has a charming location by the port with a delightfully undramatic view of the harbor where fishing boats bob under the blue sky. The immense, saltwater pool stretches lazily before a scrub-like landscape (and is terribly refreshing on a hot day). Goats bleat in the distance and the Mediterranean sun beats down, assertive but kind.

Sadly, Anemi feels out of place with its beautiful surroundings. Contrived. Breakfast is included in the room rate, but it is unremarkable. Dinner is solid, but severely overpriced for an island where it is impossible to find a bad meal. Our room had a full stovetop like a holiday rental, but no cookware. You can’t help but feel that something is missing.

The rooms attempt a “design” chic, but the aging bathrooms with their chipped tile and worn grout strike a false note. When the drain mechanism in our bathtub malfunctioned, the staff panicked as they had no one with handyman experience to help. In fact, the staff, although friendly, are consistently ill-at-ease, which settles a vague whiff of desperation over the entire hotel.

Other pros: The staff really do try their best to make each guest happy. The pillow menu was a fun, five-star quirk.

Other cons: The very central kiddie pool and attendant play facilities felt out of tempo with the target clientele.

Verdict: Anemi has the right bones, but needs proper management to breathe some life into its tired skeleton.

The Island of Folegandros is a nice change from the larger, more tourist-centric towns in Greece. The hotel is beautifully designed but feels authentic (part of the Design Hotels group). The staff is well-trained, hospitable, knowledgable and friendly. The grounds are beautifully maintained. It's a small hotel with a pretty restaurant that serves a hearty breakfast (included) and transforms into a fabulous dining experience for the evening. We had one meal there and it was one of the best during our two week stay in Greece. The town of Chora is ten minutes away (not walkable as it's up a few steep hills) but the town is worth a visit with many restaurants and cafes. Don't miss the hike to the town church to watch the sunset.

Room Tip: The rooms closest to the water are the best.

After spending a few days in Santorini, we took a ferry to Folegandros to hopefully have a more authentic Greek experience, and we could not be more pleased with our stay at Anemi Hotel. The facilities were incredibly well maintained -- I felt like every time a stray pool umbrella was left up, it was put down (or vice versa) within seconds. But the reason I decided to leave a review for this particular hotel, something I rarely do, is the service. Granted, we were there near the end of season, so they weren't flooded with guests, but everything about the service was spectacular. Everyone was so so friendly to us (an handful of tourists from the states, asking some crazy questions at times). They arranged everything from a boat tour (highlight of the trip), to taxis, to giving us restaurant reservations. They even let us keep one of our rooms on our day of check out until 8PM at no charge, as we were scheduled to take a very late ferry that day. I felt like they were constantly filling my water glass by the pool, always offering assistance, but never being intrusive. My wife and I are very frequent travelers...we're not easily impressed. The service level at Anemi Hotel is second to none...thank you all so much!
