My wife and I stayed at Hotel Klippen for four nights in April 2015. We loved this small hotel and the food served at breakfast (included) and dinner (not included) was great and plentiful. The owner made sure our stay was enjoyable and is a fantastic cook! Highly recommended hotel and restaurant. Good idea to rent a car to see all of the island of Bornholm.

Room tip: Some rooms have bathrooms located down the hall. Find out if your room has a private bathroom or if the bathroom is down the hall.

This was one of the stops during our bicycle tour around Bornholm. We had a room facing the sea, just 50 m from the waves, hitting the rocks. A very relaxing way to fall asleep. Beautiful view of the sea and over the little harbour of Gudhjem. Ok breakfast and friendly staff from Czechia.

On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Gundi. We were a little early & our room was still being prepared, and so we sat in the cafe where we were served cappuccinos and the most delicious homemade cheesecake!
The hotel is in an excellent location, perched on the cliffs above Gudhjem, but only a five minute walk into the town itself and so is close to all amenities. I would recommend one of the rooms with a terrace overlooking the sea (rooms 2-4 I think); this was a perfect place to sit and watch the scenery, with a glass or two of your favourite tipple.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming at all times. Monika sat with us one breakfast time and helpfully made suggestions for where we could visit on what was a wet weather day; she took a lot of time and trouble to ensure that we had a good experience of visiting Bornholm. A chess set/board games are available in the bar, which were handy on such a rainy day.
Breakfast was of excellent quality with a good range of breads, cereals, cheese, fruit etc and some lovely homemade yogurt.
If travelling by bus (as we were) it's worth knowing that there is a bus stop in Gudhjem harbour where you can catch a bus that travels around the periphery of the island. Alternatively, if travelling to Rønne, catch the bus at the top of the hill from the hotel near the garage.
Hotel Klippen really left an impression on us due to the wonderful location, relaxed atmosphere and helpful & friendly staff. It is an excellent base from which to explore lovely Gudhjem and we hope to return one day.

Room tip: Rooms with a terrace overlooking the sea and Gudhjem itself (room numbers 2-4)

Our family stayed here for 4 nights after completing Ironman Copenhagen. It was the perfect spot for some needed R&R! The location could not be more ideal~ gorgeous view overlooking the Baltic and just a short walk down the oceanfront path to the ice cream shops and cozy cafes and restaurants of Gudhjem.
The rooms are very simple, but that's all we really wanted. The breakfast served each morning is plentiful and delicious. Definitely don't miss the evening BBQ (if it happens.) YUM! And the cheesecake is to die for.
Large deck off the cafe is a wonderful late afternoon spot for a beer or coffee (and that cheesecake!)

My husband and I were unsure where to stay on Bornholm, but we are glad we chose this lovely hotel in Gudhjem. The location is excellent, on a cliff above town with a convenient walking path that leads to the main waterfront with restaurants and shopping. The room was clean and simply furnished, and the view was lovely. Our room was situated at the end of the building, so no one would walk past it- a bonus to that was that we could have the door open to listen to the ocean and let in the sea breeze, yet still have privacy.

The breakfast buffet had a good selection of food (cold cuts, cheese, fruit, veg, cereal, homemade yogurt, bread) and we enjoyed eating on the deck overlooking the sea. Another nice amenity was that bicycles were available for hire, and we ended up using them to cycle to Østerlars church, the town of Svaneke, local hiking trails, the art museum and other attractions. It was nice to return to our little oasis in Gudhjem at the end of each day.

Best of all, the hosts of this hotel are friendly, happy to help if you have any questions and accommodating. My husband liked chatting with them in the evenings while enjoying a beer on the cafe deck. Great hospitality- highly recommended!

Room tip: Room 17 has a partial ocean view, plus is a good choice if like privacy and don't want people walking past your room.
