“Dream Holidays”
Reviewed 20 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We just came back from an amazing holiday in Tuscany. I stayed with my partner and small child at Agriturismo Castello and I can really recommend it. Andrea (owner) and his family were welcoming and nice without been intrusive. They were especially sweet and patient with my daughter. The appartment was clean and fully equiped with everything needed (even barbecue). The property is beautiful, with a big swimming pool and playground. There is also a safe space to park the car. The location is quite central, just 10min from Volterra and close enough to Pisa, Florence and Siena. But I would recommend to have your own car.

“Everything we hoped Tuscany would be”
Reviewed 12 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

We have just (sadly!) returned from one week's stay here at this completely charming and welcoming agriturismo. We have a 21 month old daughter and it was a perfect family holiday! Unfortunately Andrea and his family were also on holiday the week we arrived, so the parents and the brother and his children were there to greet us when we arrived. The showed us how everything worked and we had contact numbers for any emergencies (we didn't need them). The 2 bed apartment was immaculately clean, the kitchen was well equipped and there was plenty of instant hot water from the showers. Amazingly there was also a decent wifi connection! Lots of space also in the apartment, plenty for the 3 of us. They supplied a travel cot including mattress and bedding as well as a high chair. The views are to die for, picture what you think Tuscany might look like, all rolling hills in beautiful sunlight and thats pretty much what you get! The draw card of the farm being where it is you get a 360 degree view. We ate outside under the tree a few nights, once for a barbecue. Most nights we had a sundowner on the bench to make the most of the views! As it is a farm there are also chickens to go and see ( a favourite with our little girl) possibly the most friendly dog in the world, and a couple of cats who wander about to keep you company! We really enjoyed the swimming pool, and the few toys such as a swing (including a garden swing for the grown ups) football, and trampoline are a nice touch and well received! Loved the fact we could just wander to the field to see the haystacks and meadow. Andreas parents couldn't do enough for us, and they even bought a little gift for our little girl, so kind of them! The farm is about 15 minutes drive away from Volterra, and just over an hour from Pisa airport. Volterra has everything you need for a self catering stay, including a reasonably big supermarket. We did easy day trips to Siena and San giminano and to the beach near cecina. Although we stayed with our young daughter, I would really say the agriturismo would be suitable for anyone, including older children or couples (we had the place to ourselves a lot of the time). A huge thank you to Andrea and family (especially the parents) we absolutely loved our time with you and can enthusiastically recommend to anyone thinking of a Tuscan holiday!

“Idyllic location and spectacular views”

Our family have just returned from a memorable week at this Agriturismo. We have stayed at plenty of places of this type of accommodation in Italy and this is the best we have been to. The hosts ( Andrea and his family) could not have been more helpful and were always on hand when needed without being obtrusive.
The apartment ( Capriolo) was very spacious and remained nice and cool even during the hottest parts of the day. It was much larger than other agriturismo places we have stayed at before. There are 4 apartments in total and we had 3 Dutch families staying at the same time as us. The fact that two of the families were on their fifth visit and the third one was on their second visit speaks volumes about the level of amenity here and its idyllic location well away from main roads.
There is a huge pool which is kept spotlessly clean and each apartment has 4 sun loungers allocated. On the rare occasions when the pool is busy there is plenty of room. There were fantastic panoramic views from the pool area and from our first floor apartment. In its slightly elevated position there is normally a gentle breeze which is very welcome on hot days.
The beautiful hilltop town of Volterra is 10/15 minutes away with plenty of restaurants to choose from. For those who want to explore Tuscany, Siena, Pisa, San Gimignano and Florence are all within easy driving distance ( may be better to get train though to Florence as parking is very difficult and the city is extremely busy).
Andrea and his family also provided a superb evening meal for all the guests at the agriturismo on the Thursday evening we were there- a lovely touch much appreciated by everyone.
We will definitely return to this impeccable place situated in what is a beautiful part of Tuscany. It is only an hour from Pisa airport.
