Like in all things we see and observe, it is the people we meet and not the "things" we buy or eat or drink, that make the difference, no matter where one goes in the world.
That at least is the way my wife and I see it.
The Palace Hotel Vieste is one of those Hotels that doesn't "shout" opulence nor hits you with extreme luxury despite its 4 star status, but its main attraction is given by the warmth of the personnel that manage it and makes it a very comfortable place. Yes, a number of things can be improved in this rather "old world" place and frankly one expects a little more from a 4 Star Hotel such as this especially in the set up of the foyer, the lack of choices of the mini bar in the rooms, the rather old Air Conditioning System that works when it feels like and the rather "cold" ambience of the restaurant both in the morning for breakfast as well as in the evening for the restaurant service. But again, we are talking about "things" and not people, those very individuals that manage the place and that are truly outstanding for their hospitality, charm, generosity and helpfulness. We went at a time when the season was ending and many things were less "available" than if we had been in full season, I am sure; nevertheless Management should think about whether keeping it "half" open with a reduced standard of facilities is preferable to close it for the Autumn/Winter period and avoid to incur into some justifyable negative comment from some guest. To conclude I would say that our experience has been truly great and most enjoyable even though some things could have been a little better, but no matter, the marvellous relationships we created with the Hotel's personnel will last a lot longer than a missed bottle of champagne in the mini bar of the room we stayed in. We simply loved it.

Room Tip: Junior Suites are larger and quitter and have better shower/bathroom

I found the hotel cold and not particularly comfortable. The shower was very cramped, there were no toiletries other than some squeeze hand soap and shower gel and no shower cap. The curtains had holes in and the TV was miniscule. The clean towels were damp.
The breakfast was mostly sweet things and the eggs were cooked early and left out so we're cold and congealed. At dinner the food was very mediocre and beware if you ask for a glass of wine you may well get the previous day's leftovers. They seem to want to economize on everything.

For a convenient town centre hotel, this is worth using. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are comfortable and clean, the breakfasts adequate and there are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance to make up for the somewhat boring nature of the hotel restaurant. Would happily stay here again and the Gargano is fabulous.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms face onto side street so quieter

Well is is a very nice building with large windows in the heart of the city. So what you get for comfort outside you cannot expect a view inside. The rooms face the walls of the next door buildings unless you upgrade to junior suite where you will have a small balcony
and a possible lateral view of Marina. The entrance and sitting areas are done with
modern furnishings. Nice place to stay in town, Neat and clean breakfast. Don't expect
gourmet food.

Room Tip: Junior suites on higher floors are a good bet.

The hotel was close to everything. Breakfast were pretty ordinary though sufficient. The room was comfortable, but don't keep your window open as the street is extremely noisy. On the second night we kept the window closed and the aircon on had no issue!
