Back at the Rodella for the second year running as part of an Inghams booking - we liked it so much we couldn't stay away! The hotel has undergone a small expansion - including the welcome provision of a lift. Otherwise all as before - including the wellness centre comprising a good jacuzzi and 2 saunas (50° and 90°).
This time we were in room 3 on the top floor. This is a reasonable size room (big enough to accommodate a 3 seater sofa in addition to the usual small table and 2 chairs). It faces obliquely across the road to the forested slope beyond but the balcony still affords views of Selva, part of the Odle Group massif and the entire Sella group massif. [If you want views of the Sassolungo massif as well then you need to get a room with a balcony on the next face round of the hotel.]
Food is absolutely excellent both at breakfast and in the evening. The antipasta/salad course in the evening is so good and comprehensive (it changes every day) that it could easily be the main meal in itself. Everything beautifully presented.
As before, the owner Georgios couldn't be more helpful in providing knowledgeable, helpful advice on things to do and walking routes. He says "it is his duty"! The delightful, cheerful Monika still providing efficient service at table and bar. She always wears Tyrolean dress - a different one every day. We discovered she makes them herself and has 42 in all! This year she was joined by a young man, Mat, who was also very helpful and has immaculate, accentless English. All the staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful.
The Rodella is well out from the centre of Selva but this means is very quiet and peaceful and its elevated position affords fantastic views over the valley surrounding Selva and the Dolomites towering magnificently around it. In fact, nothing beats coming back from a good walk and sitting out on the Rodella's terrace soaking in that view whilst consuming a well earned pot of tea or a beer.

Giorgio, his wife and his oh, so charming parents really know how to run a great hotel and get you to the slopes (and back!) in comfort. From the moment we arrived with a warming welcome of coffee, the family were at your disposal, always professional and informed about conditions and pistes and ready to assist, never overwhelming you with too much attention. Room we had was well laid out with plenty of storage to get rid of luggage holdalls for the week, great views and a fab hot bath to ease the aching limbs after a day on the slopes. The restaurant meals were excellent, with primi pasta dishes being an understandable sure-fire, al dente hit in the heart of the Dolomiti. Our waitress, Monika, was always smiling an helpful and an incredibly well-informed sommelier on the local grape varieties, such that we always had great wines with every meal.

Just returned from a one week visit to Selva with Inghams staying at the Hotel Rodella.

The hotel was wonderful. Rooms were spotless, food was faultless and Georg and his team were attentive and always ready to help.

The hotel is situated around 25 minutes out of Selva centre, but because of that you get the best views of the mountains. The sun terrace is a wonderful place to enjoy the scenery and a drink. In any event there is a free local bus service into the centre of Selva.

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and would return without hesitation.

Just returned from 1 week visit as part of a Inghams booking. With many years of visiting Alpine/Tirolean resorts with Inghams we can categorically say that this is the most friendly and welcoming hotel we have ever stayed at. The staff are cheerful, efficient, attentive and extraordinarily helpful.
The breakfast is the usual Alpine buffet (but including fresh fruit) - but it does vary a bit from day to day. Coffee is freshly served in a coffee pot - not this disgusting machine stuff. Choice of 3 mains for the evening. Mains and starters all very tasty and evidently just freshly cooked. Always a local specialty on offer. These preceded by buffet salad bar - very varied/comprehensive and frequently containing several fish/meat choices - could make a main course out of it easily most evenings.
Hotel some distance out of Selva. Reasonable bus service or can walk in (~ 40 mins). Superbly situated with a stunning view of the town below and the mountains above all around. If you haven't got a room with a balcony (and you do need to climb the stairs to get one of those - as there is no lift), you can still get the view from the lovely terrace outside the dining room.
The manager/owner Georgio seems to genuinely want you to have the very best holiday possible and is a fount of information on things to do, local events, walking routes, transport links etc. and is only too happy to help always.
The Val de Gardena area is absolutely stunning and Selva seems to be the best situated of all the nearby towns for viewing it to best effect. It is well worth taking the various lifts to get different views of the surrounding mountainscapes.
Thoroughly recommended.

For the first time being a solo traveller i was terrified to go on holiday on my own until i have reached the hotel. The hotel is runed by the most friendly family and the atmosphere is very relaxing. I was met on the arrival by owner Giorgio who showed around. Rooms are very clean and cozy with the balconies to stunning views to the Dolomitos mountains.Amazingly beautiful scenery everywhere you go. Perfect position for hikers. Town centre is about 10 -15 minutes to walk. The owner was very helpful and has drawn me amazing trails on the map for all week hikes so i could discover most spectaclural and stunning places and walks.Hotel Rodella food was delicious.
I travel often and visited many places but this hotel and surroundings are exceptional! All hotel Rodella staff is very devoted. Hospitality was outstanding. I had the best active but relaxing holidays there. Thank you very much for everything and i hope to come back soon.
