Having met Lia,our hostess and co-owner,We were taken through what can only be described as a cave like entrance that led to a lift(avoiding many steps!) that took us up to the bottom of Lia and her husband's property.
We were then shown the villa via a few steps(again avoiding many more!) through our host's back terrace.Entering the 18th century building, which was impressive in itself,we were met by the stunning sea views which included Positano and part of the Isle of Capri.
The villa is simply gorgeous and had everything we needed for a self catering holiday including two terraces, which we hardly used due to our busy sightseeing schedule.
Lia was a friendly host, always available, but not intrusive, and Praiano is a pretty, friendly village which is located between Amalfi and Positano, and I would certainly recommend this holiday rental.
Hope to return next year,
We just spent five nights at Villa Erato in Praiano and have had a wonderful time. The villa is exactly like the pictures - elegant and yet very comfortable. The master bedroom has huge closets and the en suite has a huge soaker tub. The second bedroom is perfect for two more. The rooms are completely quiet for a good night's sleep. What can you say about going to sleep with a view out French windows to the Mediterranean? Or having lunch at a lovely dining table while looking at at the sea? While we loved exploring all the towns along the coast, it was always a pleasure to come back to the little garden, delightful with the smell of lemon trees & rosemary plants, among ancient olive trees for an afternoon glass of wine, a little cheese and fruit. It was nice to have the choice of sampling restaurants on the Coast - or making meals in the beautifully arranged and well equipped kitchen. The Vivaro Wine Bar is literally steps from the Villa - best meal of the week by far. Also handy: a washer! Praiano is called "the heart of the Amalfi Coast" and sits 15 minutes from Amalfi one way or Positano the other: of the two, Positano is by far the nicer. The SITA bus stop is handy (buy a 3-day-pass and leave the driving to these magicians! We drove, parked, and except for an excursion to Pompeii never touched the car) It's also on the Path of the Gods - a hiking trail that leads up to the Convent and winds over to Positano (a challenging hike!) I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Lovely place, - and trul lovely owner/hosts.
