Getting to Positano is an adventure in itself and it was such a treat to stay in this guest house. I had researched a bit but they aren't really well connected to the web etc. so it took some work to find a contact email for this jewel. It is celeste.dileva@tiscali.it -- And they respond very promptly. I was able to book ahead and pay when we arrived. The location and price is unbeatable and the view... I just was in heaven. The rooms are simple, but come with a fantastically large balcony that has this amazing view of the Mediterranean and a great Mosque and the famous hill. We were steps away from one of the cute main alleyways that lead to the beach that had an amazing little patisserie that we tried one of everything it seemed and a little grocery store right there too.. so we would just take things back to our peaceful little balcony or to the beach/rocks for an amazingly romantic dinner on our budget! Loved this place!

Room Tip: ask for a balcony ( i think they all have one)

After a long day of travels (roughly 18 hours) we were tired and frusterated. We finally got to La Tavolozza at 8pm at night. We were greeted with a warm welcome and wisked into our room to relax. After the long travel all I wanted to do was to relax and be taken care of, and we got just that and so much more.

You will FALL IN LOVE with the staff and the charm of this hotel. When we got to our room we were amazed at how large it was. Our room was a two room suite with balcony. After our luggage was taken to our room the curtains were drawn and the view was literally breath taking. There is a mini fridge in the room which was great to chill water and of course wine :).

In the morning you can add breakfast for only around 5 Euros per day (depending on what you get). We got appricott filled coissants, cappacinos and some pound cake. All you have to do is let the staff know what time you want it delivered and everything is taken care of.

The location of this hotel is the best in town. Its a short walk down the hill to the beach and shopping. If you are looking for views this is the place to be. Yes you will have to walk up the hill to get back to the hotel but its honestly not that bad (you'll be walking off all the pasta you are most likely eating any way). Its about half way up the hill- which is where you want to be to get the views.

There was an internet cafe at the bottom of the hill by the beach. This is the only place to get internet and all you have to do is buy a coffee or something and you get a free half hour. DO NOT eat at the internet cafe...its horrible. A coffee only place.

There is also a place at the beach to rent umbrellas and chairs. They charge 12.50 Euros but in no time you can get it down to 10 euros for all day use.

All in all if you are looking for great views, amazing staff and to relax and be taken care of, this is the place to go!

This was our last stop on a two week Italy vacation, starting in Tuscany, then Rome, then Positano. This was BY FAR our favorite place. The owners of this hotel speak some English, so it's fairly easy to communicate. The room we got (#7), was an apartment style, with a hallway, bathroom, kitchen, and spacious bedroom. It had a small balcony with table and chairs that had a view of the ocean on your left, and a view of Positano to your right. The owners said this room didn't have as great of a view as the others, but we were still so happy with the whole thing! It was a few steps away from the stairway that leads you down into the heart of Positano, which was perfect since we knew others who stayed at hotels with much farther walks. It was also just down the street from the Sponda bus stop so we could easily get in and out of Positano. The bed was comfortable, and overall, we were THRILLED. Definitely will be back again!

We stayed in Positano for four nights in early September and our stay at La Tavolozza was fantastic.

This small family run business is definitely one of the best value places to stay. It's in a great location - only a short way up the hill but still had amazing views. It's also an easy walk to some good restaurants, bars and deli's if you didn't want to walk right down to the water front.

Our room had a huge balcony with a fantastic view of the water. Although breakfast isn't included in the price it was available, good value and served whenever you like on your balcony.

The room itself was pretty spacious (especially since you spent most of your time on the balcony) and the bathroom was a good size and included a bath.

The staff were all super friendly, warm, welcoming and more than happy to help with recommendations for places to visit and eat. They also spoke great English.

There is an information centre located 5 mins from the residence who provided lots of useful information about transport and were happy to book our return bus trip to Rome as the site was in Italian.

I did a cooking class on my last day in Positano at the deli located nearby. Unfortunately it was probably the worst class I've done - I essentially paid for the privilege of being their kitchen hand for the day. The class wasn't structured at all and the staff didn't speak much English so asking questions was difficult. I basically helped them prepare the food they sold at the deli. This was just the name of a place I was given amongst many others by the lovely ladies and not an indication of the great advice they gave as they had no experience of the course, only knew that they ran them. I chose this place on my own accord but wanted to note it so they could advise against it for other visitors :-)

We hope to go back to Positano and would definitely stay here again. It's a little gem in what can be a very expensive part of Italy to visit.

Thanks for a great time ladies!

This was my second stay in only two years at this lovely family run bed and breakfast. This time, I stayed with my sister and two cousins. We stayed in rooms 4 and 5, I believe. It's the level with the adjoining terraces and the private bathrooms across the hall.

We had a wonderful experience...which I anticipated based on my past experience. Celeste, Paola, Francesca and their brother were just as warm as they were last time. They helped us make calls with our calling card, set up restaurant reservations and made sure we made our transportation connections on time. I can't complain. The beds were comfortable. The air conditioning worked great. The showers were amazing...though be prepared for no shower curtains in Italy. The french doors leading to the terrace are shaded to provide darkness if you want to sleep in. They also have glass inserts for you to close the doors and still enjoy the view.

We loved eating meals on the gorgeous terrace and soaking up the wonderful view. Since they were connected, we just went from terrace to terrace. One night, we left the doors open and could hear a singer and musicians at a nearby piano bar. Just amazing as you watched the twinkling lights of Perfect Picturesque Positano.

We did have some ants while we were there, but we alerted them and they came and sprayed the area. They literally came as soon as we hung up the phone. It wasn't a big deal to us.

My cousin had an upset stomach while we were there and the family from La Tavolozza checked on her often and asked her repeatedly how they they could help. You don't get this type of service just anywhere! I will recommend La Tavolozza over and over again. Hope to see you again soon!
