Unfortunately the kitchen of this restaurant was a disappointment. A couple of years ago you could enjoy the foood, but this summer bistecca with truffle was not good, the meet was swimming in a creamy sauce, pici al tartufo had no tartufo taste and ravioli cacio e pepe was a climpy sauce of cheese. The waitress was very helpful and sorry when and we got discount, so the service was nice, however, the most important thing, the foos was not anymore delicious italian food.

Buonasera Signora.
Cordiali saluti,

Cantine Medicee

Try the chicken and grilled veggies. Delicious!! It wasn't crowded and parking was easy. Friendly staff, too. Nice place to go when you don't feel like fighting the crowds or parking of the city center.

Cool location for dinner -tables are on a mezzanine above the wine store. Family of 4 with kids ages 9 and 11. We had Tuscan steak, pasta with wild boar ragu and pasta with fresh tomatoes and basil. All were great. House red (Pulciano Rossa) was very good. We browsed the wine store while waiting for our dinner. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

On a recent trip, we parked nearby and, figuring this was a city, wandered in to this retsaurant/wine shop to do some tasting. We were met by a very friendly girl who spoke good English, and offered us free tastings of not only wine, but cheeses, sausage, and breads as well. We didn't eat at the restaurant, but ended up buying food and wine to take with us, and to ship home. The shipping process was a bit tedious, but our host was very gracious and helped us work through it with no issues! A great little place, and a great introduction to Montepulciano!

Having parked our car outside, having wrongly thought we had made the centre of town, we stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant in the pouring rain and proceeded to nibble our way around the tasters of salami etc from their shop which was enough to tempt us to stay. And we were not disappointed.

The food was delicious. We had the large sharing platter of local dishes - mostly meats and cheeses which was also extremely generous in portion size. I followed it with a to die for tagliatelle di tartufo. The others shared an enormous steak and piled on the irresistible side orders. We all tried everything and were in gastronomic heaven even before our second bottle of red (for the non-drivers) which was also noteworthy.

Then followed what I believe was a fantastic tiramisu - this was the only dish I didn't try as I was by then too full and having opted for biscotte and vin santo. I was far from disappointed. Whilst the vin santo was a bit sweet for my personal preference as I prefer the 'dryer' dessert wines, it was perfectly adequate.

Our waitress could not have been more helpful and accommodating including of our friends' 22 month old daughter. They also very generously added complimentary digestifs for us which were so good I had to then bu a bottle of what was offered to take home.

The only slight damper can when we came to pay and a different waitress sought to refuse to allow us to all split the bill onto 3 cards (we were 6). She sought to demand we pay on one card claiming she would get into trouble with her boss if we all paid separately, despite there having been no signs specifying this as a requirement. This was not an option for us on this occasion and she disappointingly got fairly aggressive about it. She eventually relented when we pointed out she had a choice of payment or no payment but it annoyed at least one of our party thereby putting a bit of a dampner on an otherwise really very good meal. This did not prevent us from heavily tipping our helpful waitress but it was unnecessary and disappointing.
