This was one of the finest hotels experiences I have had anywhere in the world. We literally did not want to leave, and we were going to Rome. If you are going anywhere even remotely near this place and you can swing it, stay here. I would bet my travel fund on the fact that you wont be disappointed.

Room Tip: Get the front room with the balcony and turkist bath, it was amazing.

The place is just amazing. From the huge and well decorated room (a palace's room) to the reception of our host Cristian everything was just a dream. We traveled as a couple in Christmas time and had two pleasant nights in Palazzo Carletti. Cristian also spotted all the good places to visit and the best restaurants in town (specially because it was Christmas and some places were closed). We highly recommend this place to everyone and certainly will be there in our next travel to Tuscany.

Everything has been said in the reviews of Palazzo Carletti. The quality of the rooms: every little detail is 5 star. Cristian was fantastic and very helpful. We were two couples travelling together. We had rooms 1 and 3. In the evening, we relaxed in the huge living room and felt completely at home. Breakfast was served in the living room and was of the highest quality. If I had one complaint/suggestion: the wifi is very spotty and frustrating. I put this down to the construction since the palazzo is like a castle. They need boosters or a new router or something. We ate dinner each night in Montepulciano to avoid driving back into the town in the dark. Both restaurants Cristian suggested were so fantastic that we still can't decide which was our favorite. I think Il Conte but Acquacheta was unbelievable as well. One night we had pizza diagonally across the street but I can't remember the name of the place. That was great too. Lot's of locals. Be warned: driving into Montepulciano is a challenge but worth it.

Room Tip: Rooms 1 and 3 look out over the main street which is not a problem and the rooms are so gorgeous, wh...

While we aren't the pickiest of travelers by any means, we usually can spot a few areas for improvement in the places that we stay. However, Palazzo Carletti is an exception. My husband and I took a two week trip to Italy for our honeymoon, and it was by far the favorite among our accommodations.

We immediately felt welcomed, and were impressed with how well the Palazzo's spaces had been renovated. Our room was very large (love the high, frescoed ceilings) and super comfortable. There is every amenity you could imagine - great closet, fridge, mini bar, ice maker and best of all, the espresso machine. We also loved the modern and luxurious bathroom with its awesome shower and heated towel rack. And these modern conveniences are so well integrated into the historic architecture.

Cristian was the perfect host, and the breakfasts served every morning in the main space were delicious (the amazing view of the countryside doesn't hurt, either). The whole experience of staying at Palazzo Carletti was truly relaxing. Can't wait to return!

Palazzo Carletti was our favorite among the hotels we stayed at in Italy. It is simply amazing - exactly what I hoped it would be. It's a historic palazzo that has been updated while maintaining all of it's historic charm. It's as if you had a very wealthy and stylish Italian friend how invited you to be a guest at his private palazzo.

Our room was one of the double rooms, but was by far the largest hotel room we had in Italy. It was updated with a modern bathroom and beautiful furnishings. It also had many thoughtful features, like a huge wardrobe where we could store our clothes and luggage, along with a complementary minibar. The manager, Christian, is absolutely fantastic. He made us feel so welcome and took great care of us during our stay. We can't wait to go back with our kids and enjoy the ambience and hospitality of Palazzo Carletti.

I should add that the town of Montepulciano is very charming and a great place to visit. We went there with the intention of using it as a base for exploring Tuscany. Even though I had rented a car, we stayed in town for our entire stay. After a frantic few days is Rome, it turned out that Montepulciano was exactly what we needed. We walked around town, relaxed and just soaked up the local scenery. For a relatively small town, it has a huge variety of restaurants, wine bars and shops.
