I’m surprised at some of the negative reviews as I thought this hotel was awesome. It’s very modern, the rooms are immaculate and the breakfast was fantastic, the biggest spread I’ve seen in an Italian hotel but then again it is a 5star. The rooftop pool was a wonderful bonus as was the spa area , the spa really had everything you could want (although staff should show you where all the facilities are as they are spread out here and there and you wouldn’t immediately find the hydro massage pool ) and I had a really great and professional massage by Valentina , who was lovely and spoke English. The front of house staff were very helpful, Raneiro and Marianna (hope that’s her name) we’re welcoming and assisted in any way they could.

Room tip: Pop into the Herbalist shop , “Montecatini Erbe” to pick up some amazing local spa product, ask staff where it is !

We stayed 5 nights in this excellent hotel in the week leading up to Easter weekend. The hotel, and indeed the town itself, were just beginning to get going for the season. During our first few nights we felt we were almost the only guests, but this wasn't the case on the last night or two.

We stayed in a Junior Suite on the front corner of the 3rd floor and the room was gorgeous, flooded with light from large windows on both sides. The room was very stylish and newly decorated, as was the rest of the hotel. We parked in the on-street blue parking bays right in front of the hotel (for a very small charge) and this worked out well as there was always a spot free. The hotel is at the quieter end of Via Piccini, but only a 5 min walk to the main street.

The air con in the room had not yet been activated for summer and the temperature was in the low to mid 20s each day. We just left the windows open and slept soundly each night as there was so little street noise. I presume in the summer there would be more street noise, but the air con would be operational and it would therefore be possible to keep the windows closed.

I used the spa area which was very modern and well appointed but small. Note that there is a fee of 35 euro for using the spa area. All of the staff were very pleasant and professional. We only had a few words of Italian, and they seemed to appreciate out efforts, but they had no problem speaking English to us.

We didn't eat in Restaurant Francy but had the light menu one evening and the food was very good. We also had drinks in the outside decking area in the late evening sun, which was lovely.

Some other reviewers mentioned that the breakfast may not be 5 star standard. We would say that the breakfast suited us and had everything we needed. Most food items were petite but very tasty. If you are looking for a hot breakfast (which we weren't) you may feel the choice isn't great in that regard.

Montecatini Therme itself is a nice town. It was quiet this early in the season but there were still plenty of good restaurants open. We ate in both Pellegrini's and GioviAle, and both were very very good. We found it a good base from which to explore Pisa, Lucca, San Gimignano, Siena etc. We also took the train one day into Firenze (the train station is only an 8 min walk from the hotel).

The hotel is certainly worthy of its 5 star rating. If we were considering staying in Montecatini Therme again we wouldn't even look at other hotels, we would just go ahead and book Montecatini Palace and Spa.

Room tip: The Junior Suite on the corner was excellent and very bright and airy.

Would be more accurately described as a hotel that may or may not give you access to the spa. He had a one hour slot in our two day stay. That didn't work out either as the power failed. Don't touch anything in the room, its all charged whether in mini bar or not, the warm bottles of water on the desk in the room (you know, the ones that are complimentary in normal hotels) you pay for these. Why not charge bog roll by the sheet whilst you are at it.

The hotel was very nice … clean, tastefully done interiors and close to the center.
Breakfast is very good but the time that you get seated to ordering your meal to getting the food served, count atleast an hour and a half (due to covid there is no self service at breakfast).
We were in the family room with a welcome note and bottles of water and nuts… there were no prices next to them but turns out they were not complementary and in fact each bottle of water cost 8Euros. Would have been nice if they put the price list next to it to indicate that this was to be charged. The room had a separate mini bar.
The swimming pool is on the roof. Safe and a modest sized pool.

We drove to the hotel. There is parking for clients however because the hotel is in a neighborhood, when you arrive, pull up to the front and let them know you arrived so they can get you a spot or call as you arrive. They will assist you from the car to the room (took 15 minutes total time). The hotel also caters to group tours. The junior suite king bed room was so very spacious with the colors of white and black modern feel with a very large bathroom. Pool deck on top floor with a bar. The staff was very friendly and were available 24/7. For a LHP property, I felt as if it met the standards of a European preferred hotel.

Room tip: Junior Suite is a Must.
