This is a tired Italian hotel in the spa town of Montecatini Terme. In lots of places it is need of a total refurbishment and upgrade. the bedrooms need much attention and I would only grade this hotel a two star.
However the food is very good and the set menu for the coach party was interesting and varied. There is a huge salad bar which they call a vegetable buffet and that is very welcome if you dont like the starters. There is always an intermediary dish of pasta and all of them are delicious. The sweets are not home made in my opinion and the tiramasu did not taste as if it had any mascarpone cheese in it at all. It was simply sponge fingers and chocolate with lots of cream. Our coach party benefited from wine and water with all our meals which was a nice gesture.
The swimming pool area is in need of refurbishmant over the winter months as the ceiling is falling in over the Conservatory . The room below looked as if it had once been a very grand meeting place and I think this would benefit from having some form of live entertainment for the many coach parties that visit this hotel
Overall an adequate place to stay with tired rooms, but I would not wish to be a paying guest for just two of us. More
