My wife and I stayed at the hotel for one week in early September. We arrived 11 hours late due to flight delays from Manchester airport and then having been diverted from Pisa to Milan. When we arrived after midnight we were warmly welcomed and were delighted that food had been prepared and left in our room, this was very welcomed and a very thoughtful gesture which set the tone for the rest of our stay.

The food was superb and the staff provided exemplary customer service. We would strongly recommend the Fortunella Hotel.

This friendly family run hotel is set a short walk from the promenade and beach. We stayed in room 303 which was on the side with mountain view from the balcony. We got sun in the morning on the balcony which was very pleasant to wake up to.
The room also had a sofa which could have been an extra bed, and a safe with key (not those digital code things I can never work out), which was free to use. WiFi was available for 5 euro's but we did not use this, mobile signal was good in hotel and around and about.
The food was fantastic we stayed half board and the breakfast was a wide ranging buffet style with hot and cold meats, bread fruit and cereals, pastries etc. Evening meal was a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and a surprise dessert, all home made by the chef and all delicious. We ate every evening there as the food was so good it wasn't worth trying anywhere else. There was a good selection of local wines to try.
The staff from the owners to the cleaners were friendly and professional. Salvatore and Grazia were extremely helpful advising how to get around using local buses and providing tickets and timetables for these also. We were able to travel to Pisa, Florence, Lucca, Pietrasanta and Forte Di Marmi all using local bus and trains so easily with their help.
Our waitresses Angelica and Helena were attentive and lovely they could not do enough for you.
The hotel do ask that you pay your drinks bill daily at the end of the day but this was not a problem but be aware if you planned on using your card at the end of your stay as we had done.
We hired bikes from the hotel as everyone seems to get around the resort on bikes there are cycle tracks all along the coast and the cars give way to the cycles!! Unheard of in UK.
We used the beach club aligned to the hotel with a discount for 3 days at 20 euro's per day for 2 people, the bar wasn't too pricy and sold hot and cold snacks and drinks and toilets were spotless. We also found a free beach up the coast at Forte Di Marmi where we just hired a brolly as it was 33 degrees. Beach towels were hired from hotel for 5 euro's each for the whole stay.
All in all the resort is a good base for getting to other places in Tuscany region and the hotel is perfect.

Room tip: Rooms to rear and side get sun most of day. Side room has mountain view.

Just got back from a week at Hotel Fortunella and have to say this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in in Italy and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area. It's just a 5 minute stroll to the main promenade and the sandy beach.
We emailed the hotel prior to arrival with a specific room request and were accommodated perfectly. The room was spacious with very comfortable beds, a fridge and free safe and a large bathroom with good walk in shower. Wi fi is 5 Euros per stay for unlimited devices. You can also hire a kettle, but with a lovely large pot of tea at 2.50 Euros it really wasn't worth the effort of making it yourself! There's a small bar area with a lovely conservatory for pre-dinner drinks.
The whole of the hotel is meticulously clean and very tidy and Salvatore runs a very efficient and friendly team (ciao Angelica!) - everything is so well organised - and we felt very welcomed.
And now to the food....just one word 'Fantastico'! Both at breakfast and dinner the choice was superb and the quality of the food top class.
We will definitely be returning :)

Room tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel would be quieter as there is some road noise at the front.

I contacted the hotel in advance to let them know my husband and I were vegetarian. Shortly after our late evening arrival we were presented with a lovely plate of vegetarian food. We were well fed the whole week with a wide choice of suitable food. A family run hotel with welcoming and friendly staff who do a great job helping guests to have the best holiday possible. Timetables and bus tickets are available from reception, making travel to some of the lovely places nearby really easy. We were given a late checkout at no extra charge – which is very unusual nowadays. Other guests who left when a late checkout room was not available were still given access to a room to shower before they left. The hotel is one of the cleanest I have ever stayed in – towels were changed daily and all the fixtures and fittings benefit from regular maintenance. Everyone here takes real pride in their work.
The Jet2 Rep, Valentina, visited the hotel several times during our stay and was really helpful in suggesting places to visit and providing maps. Besides the often visited Florence, Pisa and Lucca I would suggest that visitors visit Pietrasanta and Forte dei Marmi which are both easily reached on the local bus.

My husband and I have just returned from a weeks stay at The Hotel Fortunella and I would like to highly recommend this lovely family run hotel. It is an excellent base to explore Tuscany. The food is superb. The staff are efficient, attentive and friendly. Special mention for Salvatore's helpfulness and local advice and Grazia, whose lovely smile at breakfast sets up the day. The rooms are thoroughly cleaned daily, there is wifi available and a free safe in each room. The location is ideal, as it is only a short walk to the beautiful, sandy, family friendly beach. Thank you Hotel Fortunella
