The interior of this building is of high quality craftsmanship. However, the overall effect is of uglineess
. It's far too overdone to be called a beautiful building. Some aspects such as the ceiling are good, but just over the top for decent effect.
The exterior is far nicer.
Like some contributors, I have a problem with beggars, but my problem is that society does not care and support them which is why they're outside the cathedral seeking alms from good Christians, many of whom walk past and are only intersted in taking photos inside.

Inside the church there is a lot of elegance a lot of art which is a delight for the eye and an incentive for those who come to pray.
We spent some time admiring the paintings and the archtecture and left with a kind of serenity about

It’s quite an experience to visit though not being a catholic I’m sure it doesn’t have the same meaning. The building though is quite something, very ornate and so much detail. One could sit on the pews and keep seeing different things. It was good we were off season, so it wasn’t crowded. Pity they alllowed s beggar in the doorway, albeit it was the only one we saw all day.

You could not possibly visit Puglia or Lecce without see this, just extraordinary. Like a mini Place Vendome in Paris...with a Duomo.

Loved the guided city tour visit to the Duomo. Beautiful architecture, interesting papier mache statutes. Didn't go down to the crypt but it's possible for a small fee.
