“As Expected Hilton -- large for area, good service, convention type hotel”
Reviewed 22 April 2012

My family of four (2 adults, 2 teenagers) stayed at the Hilton Giardini Naxos for 2 nights during a trip to Sicily. I thought the rates were fair for the area (paid 160euro) per night per room. Typical Hilton -- inexplicably charging for internet and requiring payment for each device connected (not good for a family with iPhones, iPads, MacBooks and teenagers w/ Facebook). The front desk was very helpful and gave us connecting rooms that were fairly large. Note that we visited in 3rd week of April and there was virtually no one at the hotel except for conventioneers and tourist busloads of people. The hotel had an OK (not good) breakfast but had no lunch service at all which I found strange for a Hilton... especially one of this size. We had exceptional meals across the street at O'Neils (see that separate review). I expect the hotel and those around it are really busy during the summer... not much activity around the hotel when we were there. They do charge (20euro per day) for use of the indoor pool as noted in other reviews... I think it is run by a vendor as part of a "spa"... but the free outdoor pool is of limited use until it gets warm there...... Book this one especially if you want to be close to Taormina without the crowds and expense of those hotels.

Room Tip: Call the front desk to get connecting rooms or specific floors. They were quite helpful.

Since Sicily is only 20 minutes away by plane for us, it makes a lovely base for a quick getaway. We wanted somewhere quiet but with good access to the Catania airport and the area around taormina and the ioninian and also to the parks of Etna and Alcantara.
Giardini Naxos is all this.We hired a car from the airport and were there in 40 minutes. Note carpark is open, a few metres away, but always monitored and at a cost of 10 euro a night.
Giardini was pretty quiet ,full season starts in a couple of weeks.
Check in was quick and smooth we were upgraded part of our HHonours and given a family room at 11.The hotel is quite bland from the outside but full of character inside.. our room overlooked the gardens and the lovely sea ..nothing beats the rush of the waves and saltiness on the skin when you leave the balcony open. Rooms spacious a bit tired round the edges but ample space in wardrobe and extremely comfortable bed. Bathroom a tad small but with bath and shower in bath.Service hit and miss at times..however the lovely Alessandra at reception went out of her way to accomodate all our needs. free internet ..but note only wireless in lobby not in rooms..again part of our Hhonours status.
I have had better breakfasts at all other Hiltons..can be bettered I think but do ask if you want other stuff not on the tables, we were always obliged.
Overall a pleasant stay and nothing beats the views from the rooms.Pool looked nice too..too cold to try out.Might get noisy in peak season..we had no problems early April.
One last note..executive lounge opens later this year..check if this is important for you. We were given vouchers for 2 free drinks each for every day booked....nice touch.

Room Tip: Do book a seaview room, otherwise you l miss the best feature of this hotel. This comes with a Hilton...

The hotel is very clean and the rooms spacious. The swimming pool is nice, and the private beach is passable. Staff wasn't overly friendly and spent most of their time with tour groups rather than individuals registered at the hotel.

Find it shocking to pay 20 euros per day to use the indoor pool, and to pay for the internet. No internet connections available in the rooms. Only options are wireless in the lobby, or LAN in a computer room. During the 5 nights we stayed there, the internet worked for 1 day only. Movie selections are poor. Location is okay.

Free wireless is available at the lounge bar across the street. Hotel could also not recommend good restaurants in the area to us. Restaurants across the street are not great.

Room Tip: Insist on a sea view

This hotel is in the town of Naxos, about 15 minutes from Taormina. Very well appointed and on the water. We had a gorgeous corner room, courtesy of our Hiltos Honor card. It was a much cheaper alternative to staying in the city of Taormina. It is hard to find without a GPS.

Room Tip: The hotel is hard to find like a lot of them in Sicily so take a GPS.

Was blown away by the high level of customer service, help, and advice of Alessandra at the desk. She is in a class by herself. We had a suburb room, service, and buffet at the hotel and they went out of there way to make our 4 night stay super. Received detailed instructions on how to get to Tamoria and were to park, along with guidance on local resturants.
