This hotel is about relaxation. We didn't use the spa but there is a lovely garden with a nice spread of locations for loungers: all right by the lake but some in the sun and others under trees. The outdoor pool is kept toasty warm and is for lounging not lengths (there is an indoor pool if you want exercise). You can also swim in the lake, although it is rather colder even in August, so most people go in just for 10 minutes' refreshment.

There are three restaurants: for the daytime there is a restaurant entirely set in the shade of two giant trees. With the usual lakeside breeze it is a lovely place to eat and see off a bottle of rose. For the evening there is a Michelin star (and style) restaurant and a more informal fish restaurant. Both are good. Note the more formal one is actually not that much more expensive and we ate some excellent things there (especially the lamb dish), although one does need to be in the mood for more cheffed up dishes and more service folderol. There is also a lovely bar outside on the first floor (and a very nicely done one inside if you go at colder times), where they make top notch cocktails (and are very happy to go off list) and serve nice bar snacks. But do wear insect repellent in the early evening there.

Service is generally as you would expect of a place like this, i.e. very good, professional and the right level of friendly.

We travelled as a couple. There were some families with young children (although this is not an area where there is much entertainment for children). The pool can get slightly noisy on occasion as a result but not bad at all and if it bothers you there is plenty of space to get away from the pool. There are comments on here about Germans nicking all the best spots but this was not our experience: yes there were Germans (largest contingent followed by Brits) but everyone was very civilised and even in peak season there was plenty of space for all.

We had a superior lakeside room, which was in the most modern section, which I usually don't like, but it has been integrated seamlessly, especially on the inside. We had a great uninterrupted view over the lake with a good balcony. The room was large, light, well-proportioned and clean.

Room Tip: Superior lakeside room was very good and specifically 222 is good for views: on the upmost floor with no trees obscuring the lake.

This restaurant is the "trattoria" of the hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful even though a bit quick in serving the courses. The food however is as exceptional as that served in the Restaurant Il Fagiano in the same hotel. I would highly recommend a visit to this restaurant, it's really worth it.

Perfection from the moment we arrived, breathtaking views over the lake, comfy sun loungers to sit on and direct access to the lake for a chilly and invigorating swim! We had a standard room in the annex, it was clean, fresh and modern with lovely aveda products in the bathroom to make it extra special. Staff were extremely friendly and amenable and yet despite being a five star the hotel did not feel stuffy or pretentious. Hotel was a 15 minute walk to ferry terminal, but if you don't mind the walk it's fine and half the time you don't want to leave anyway! I cannot wait to go back!

The room, the views, the spa, the food and the experience transcend through time with us now. It is truly a spectacular place. much quiter than the neighboring more popular Lago di Como, but this gem did not have us missing Como one bit.

There is no point in going into detail about the rooms because they are impeccable as is the rest of the hotel.
Had the best omelette of my life here. One of the few places you can get a high quality raw veggie dish or fresh pressed juice or blended smoothie in Italy. The plentiful outdoor seating areas allow for all guests to enjoy their stay equally.

They allow dogs which is great for us dog lovers! and the property was still up-kept flawlessly. you'd hardly notice the little beasts were there.

Now, if you stay here..go to the spa and stay there as long as possible. it will be worth every magical relaxing moment. My husband has graciously vowed to put his contractor hands to work and build me a similar one.(Thank you honey!)
