On your way up to the castle stop in to have a look at the beautiful Duomo....step back from the street to see the paintings on the outside of the building.

You could easily miss it, as you may visit the Duomo and not notice it. The whole of the upstairs is a frescoed wall of the story of Adam & Eve and Christ's life.
The long room is dedicated to the Battuti, who suffered for their faith by flaggation.

If you happen to have some time to spend visiting Conegliano, you cannot miss a visit to the Duomo and annex Sala dei Battuti: it is a MUST! The "Sala dei Battuti" and "Sala del Capitolo" are part of the Duomo complex, built on the High Street (via XX Settembre), in the historical pedestrian area. The Duomo was founded in 1354, contains the famous portrait "Pala", dated 1493, by G.Battista Cima (a prominent local painter, whose masterpieces are exhibited at the National Gallery in London). Proceeding to the side exit of the Duomo and climbing a narrow flight of stairs, located at the base of the belltower (1497), you’ll be able to experience an awesome jump of several centuries back in time. The Confraternita dei Battuti was a laity congregation, based on brotherhood, who practiced the self-whipping. Founded around 1300, they were recognized by the clergy and were operating on the base of a philanthropic and worshipping principles, most often hosting hospitals within their gathering structures. The Sala dei Battuti, with its wooden coffered ceiling, the frescos, the paintings, the out of time atmosphere, has the unique capability to create this back in time suggestion. Though you could visit the Sala dei Battuti on your own, a guided visit is warmly recommended!
