Very helpful amanger supported by staff who were extremely welcoming and friendly. Stayed with a school group and food was good to excellent and plentiful. Sometimes intermittent wifi was frustrating but on the whole would be very happy to recommend and return there especially as the ski in ski out faciltiy makes this an excellent location. Ski school and ski hire were also excellent.

To my disappointment everything at the hotel was pretty poor, the food portions were tiny, everything tasted of salt and people got food poisoning, there were also dogs running in and out of the kitchen. The cleaner stopped cleaning for the last couple of days and the bar was overpriced, the location and the skiing itself was brilliant but from my experiences I would NOT recommend going to this hotel. But I have recently found out that it is being renovated so I do hope the hotel will become better than it was.

We visited this hotel in early March 2008 for a ski trip, but continually see First Choice advertising this place to unsuspecting guests and not giving them the full story.
The Sporthotel Sagnalonga is ideally situated for keen skiers – it’s right on the slopes and is a truly ski from and to the door; walk outside the ski store, drop your skis, clip in and go! However, the only way to get to the hotel is via chair lift (from Cesana) by the day or skidoo in the evening (from Claviere) and there is nothing else around when you get there. So those of you wanting lively nightlife will have to work hard to get it.
Beware of what First Choice say about this place – it is more of a hostel than a hotel. The rooms are large, often with additional bunk-beds but bring extra clothes because the heating struggles to work in many of them. The bathrooms, like the rest of the hotel, are ‘tired’ and mouldy. The main lounge is comfortable enough (in a youth hostel kind of way), but only when the heating works! There is a dedicated ski and boot store, but this is just a room with a once working electric bar heater. So when collecting your skis in the morning you will have to walk through a pool of water to find your cold damp boots in a rack – hint, bring your boots back to your room in the evenings to have half a chance of getting them warm/dry.
The ‘restaurant’ – should read canteen – with meals served from a buffet bar, similar to a service station! However, the food is OK and there is plenty of it. Breakfasts are a bit disappointing; cold continental buffet style. The bar is a small hatch to the side of the above mentioned service station buffet counter, but the surroundings don’t inspire you to partake from it.
The brochure advertises a sauna, swimming pool and Jacuzzi. However, the sauna was nailed shut (and had been for over a year and despite the hotel telling First Choice, but they were still claiming its availability in their brochures). The pool was OK when not full of kids and the Jacuzzi was cold.
Also be aware that this hotel has an annex building which is used by school parties but they use the hotel facilities as well, including the lounge, games area, and pool; sometimes to the detriment of the other guests.
However, what this hotel has got going for it is its location, right in one of the best ski areas in Italy and next to the lifts. The ‘Milky Way’ has a vast interconnected area of well groomed slopes to play on. But this hotel is not well located for beginners, all the slopes to and from here are reds.
