“A genuine unexpected treat, rural charm in quieter south Tuscany, great location, strongly recommended.”
Reviewed 4 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We rented a two bedroom villa with friends for a week and loved it. Wonderful setting in a small picturesque working farm which makes its own very drinkable red. Beautiful garden, vines, sheep, fireflies! Located at elevation about 500 metres on northeast facing slopes below the small old town of Castel del Piano, so marvelous views to hills across Orcia valley, towards Montalcino, Pienza etc. One of the great attractions was the area, more rugged and wooded than the heart of Tuscany to the north, and much quieter, less overrun by tourists, though still offering interesting local food, history and sights. And the popular Tuscan towns to the north are accessible if needs be. Our hosts were excellent, friendly, generous and forthcoming. Great area too for cycling, and running.

“An amazing week that we will cherish forever”
Reviewed 17 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

I can't thank Alvina and Umberto enough for a fabulous week at Podernuovo. If the views and the accommodation wasn't fabulous enough, the hospitality they showed us and our 2 small boys topped it off as a place we will always remember. Seeing my 3 year old wait patiently outside every morning to feed the lambs with Umberto or pick vegies in the garden with Alvina was truly special. The donkeys, fireflies in the spring and watching the sunset over the Tuscan skyline everyday (with wine in hand) made it a special place that we can't wait to go back to.
