A grand hotel in the 1920s style.Very impressive externally. It has a large central atrium with a stunning chandelier and glass roof.
The room was large and comfortable with a safe and a fridge and good air conditioning and in good decorative order. No kettle etc, same as most european hotels.
The room window overlooked the atrium,I usually prefer an outside room but with this atrium I was very happy with the view.
The switches in the room are modern touch control buttons which was a bit confusing at first but good when you figured them out.
Breakfast was a plentiful continental buffet with hot options of hot dog sausage and scrambled egg.Rather delicious filled croissants.
We were only on an overnight coach trip stopover and got the set menu for evening meal.Pasta, meat and cake. All tasty but cant comment on the standard menu.
Staff pleasant and helpful.
The hotel is in a good location to get to places but directly outside the hotel is not especially attractive, there is a busy major road with car salesrooms offices etc.

A very ornate hotel but shame about the service. After a very long and tiring journey we were all hoping to have a quick dinner and get to bed. No, it took nearly 3 hours, and not worth the wait. The room was ok, but the bedside lights did not work. The TV could only get one Italian channel. One night was enough. Internet was supposed to be free but was not available in the room.

Upon arrival the hotel appears lovely and grand. However, we were informed that the entire facility was being used (pool, garden, extra rooms) for a social function. There were children running amok (literally) throughout the facility. The front desk was staffed but rarely knew pertinent accurate details (ex. what time and which room dinner would be served in the restaurant.) The staff worked events the entire day and by dinnertime they were exhausted and slow. The restaurant served underwhelming food. We found broken glass under a poolside table from a wedding party the night before and informed the front desk (it was still there the next morning.) The only good thing of the entire stay was the aperol spritz made at the bar. It was refreshing, and due of a lack of communication between the bar tenders notes and the front desk... it was free.

Grand Hotel Vanvitelli is a return to an age in which people enjoyed their evenings as important social events. Emblazoned with marble wall and floors, it was a beautiful location for dancing at the “Caserta Tango Meeting” at the end of May. A problem (in fact the main problem) was that after having checked in and then finding my room, I smelled a strong stench of cigarette smoke inside. The smell remained for the whole evening, and after starting to taste the stench, I couldn’t stand it any longer and so the receptionist kindly changed my room allocation. Unfortunately, it was nowhere near as nice as the first room I was given, and even though the receptionist assured me to the contrary, there was the same stench of cigarette smoke but not as strong. To be frank, this hotel had a slight but notable smell of cigarette smoke throughout. Being so nice a hotel, it was such a pity. I have to say, though, that - in general - my stay was very enjoyable. Thanks to a great bed and a marvellous hotel for dancing tango Argentino. I really hope something is done about the stench of cigarettes. Anyway, for this, I feel I have to reduce my rating by one star… if it were possible, one-and-a-half stars.

Room Tip: If you are a non-smoker, try and get a non-smoking room but, even at that, warning... there may still be a stench of cigarette smoke!
