“Thomas cook europe tour”
Reviewed 14 June 2012

Stayed there on a Thomas Cook group tour of Europe.Hotel is good. Much to our surprise they cut out fruits , eggs ,sausage, cheese from our group tour breakfast. The tour manager was unconcerned. Thomas Cook must sort out the issue of diluted services for groups.

it´s really easy to find hotel planet, closed to Arezzo, enough free parking place for car. The rooms are really modern, nicly furnished realy nice bathroom, staff is realy friendly and the restaurant is famous for it´s quality, had a realy good dinner there, all in all a perfect hotellocation to enjoy tuscany, without stressful search for any parking place, because there is enough place there.

While most hotels in in this country are very costly, if you are looking to spend a quiet night followed by a simple breakfast as a tourist, this hotel almost fits the bill. In tourist season it may charge you a bit more, but even that is cheaper than many others. Rooms are ok, bath is just alright and the breakfast was merely adequate. We did not have time to need much service. A favourite haunt for group travelers.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in June 2011, it would have been 1 night had we not already pre-paid and had a non-refundable deal.

To say this is a 4 star hotel is very misleading. It may have been 4 stars in its 'hey day' but certainly not now in fit-out or service. It is located on a main road in a desolate complex of 'gone-bust' shops, surrounded by rubble, dirt, weeds and rubbish. E.g. An overflowing rubbish bin (complete with soiled baby nappies) remained un-emptied in the car park at the front of the hotel for the duration of our stay.

Staff were generally unfriendly, apart from one of the two ladies we encountered at reception and one of the housemaids that prepared our room on the first day.

Our room, although spacious, had hard pillows and narrow beds, poor TV reception, blown down-lights and air-conditioning that could not be regulated and totally failed on the last night. The hotel appears to cater mainly for tour buses, which arrived at all hours, and led to slamming of doors and noisy conversations in the hallway carrying into our room. And I won't even mention the whirring noise the ducted vacuum system made during the day...

The bathroom, was modern, however, the lights above the basin did not work, the shower water pressure and temperature alternated from cold to boiling hot, and high to low, making it impossible to enjoy a normal shower or get burnt. The fixed hand basin plug was broken and the exhaust fan extremely noisy. Toiletries were not replaced daily. The bathroom was clean though as was the room.

Breakfast was an unpleasant experience. Dining room staff were unfriendly and untidy looking (jeans /sneakers) and could not care less whether there was breakfast food available at the buffet or whether you had a cup of coffee/tea. The first morning, on politely requesting a coffee the waitress grabbed the coffee pot from the recently vacated tour bus table next to us and placed it on our table without comment and walked off.

As for the buffet breakfast, when we went for breakfast (about 1 1/2 hours before it closed) there was hardly any food available to select from, as it didn't appear to be replenished after the tour groups had had their breakfast on any of the days, and staff appeared to begrudgingly bring out staples like bread when we requested some.

It's a shame about these things, as it could otherwise be quite a reasonable hotel, albeit not 4 stars.

Stayed there for 3 nights. Very nice, spacious and modern rooms. Friendly staff. Breakfast was typically Italian, rather small selection. Hotel is located on highway in the outskirts of Arezzo. Had booked a wekkend arrangement at attractive rates. Would stay there again and can recommend it. From Arezzo it´s possible to undertake day excursions to the other cities of Tuscany.
