We stayed at the Hotel Terme Villa Piave for 2 nights in August we were hoping to stay somewhere inexpensive and close to Venice. The hotel had been booked for us my a family member who lives in Italy, we were told the Hotel was in Padua which it is not it is in Albano Terme. We were also told it was a 20 min train ride to Venice when in fact the train ride was 1 hour 15min and on average it took us 2 hours to get from the hotel to Venice once you factor in wait times and travel time to the train station. Not to mention the last train to Abano Terme is at 7:30 pm. Our first night we wanted so badly to spend time in Venice we decided to stay later and take the train to Padua and then a taxi to our hotel the taxi cost is 65 euros.
The hotel and the hotel rooms are very outdated and the hotel needs badly to be renovated In fact I am convinced the hotel is converting itself to a old age home. The hotel includes breakfast and lunch and I have never had such tasteless overcooked food in all of my life, we arrived there at lunch time and a family member we were traveling with wanted to take advantage of the lunch. The second I walked into the dining room I knew this was not the hotel for us it was a old age home dining room with food to match. No one from my family ate more than a couple of bites of food it was so bad, and the next day for breakfast we ordered omelettes and again ate only one bite because the food was so bad.
The room was very small and we had requested a cot for out 7 year old daughter which turned out to be more like a hospital bed than a cot, and with the extra bed we had barely any room to move around. We had to request to use the air condition which was an additional charge. The bathroom window did not close properly and the walls were so thin you could hear everything outside and inside the hotel. The music from local clubs was so loud that we could sing along in our room they stopped playing there music around 2am which is when we could finally fall asleep.
We had been told the hotel was 65 euros a night a steel in Italy in August but when we went to pay they told us no $65 euro per person at 195 euros a night this was our most expensive hotel in Italy and by far the worst. If we had only booked a hotel in Venice we could have spent a lot more time in Venice and saved money considering we paid 195 euros a night plus train fare.
