We have recently returned from another stay at Orchid Villa, Kayalar and it 'just keeps getting better'.
The villa is furnished to a high standard and some new patio furniture has been added. The garden has matured and the larger hedges affords an extra degree of privacy that we liked but you can still see the sea and look inland towards the mountains.
The villa is has everything you need for self catering, even down to a cool bag and ice packs, great if you want to bring some ice creams from the supermarket! If you don't want to cook the Red Wine Bistro is only a short walk away or you can drive to one of the many restaurants on the coastal road. We liked the different options that this offered us.
Staying here you can do as much or as little as you want. North Cyprus has many historic sites to visit. Shopping in Kyrenia is very reasonable given the £'s buying power against the Turkish Lira, much better than the Euro zone.
We have recommended Orchid Villa to our friends and would to anyone reading this review - 'what's not to like'?
We enjoyed 2 weeks of total relaxation in Orchid Villa. Its set in a quiet and attractive small development known locally as Carob Villas. I assume they are named after the carob trees that can be seen in many gardens.
The villa is modern and had all the things we needed to make a great holiday. It's furnished to a very high standard with three bedrooms - one being en-suite. The kitchen is well equipped and there's a laundry area.
A nice touch when we arrived we found the owners had left us a welcome pack with some staples, I certainly enjoyed the cold beer after a long day travelling!
Also it was good to be able to keep in touch with the outside work with wifi but we didn't turn on the tv!
We really liked the option of two sun terraces as we could follow the sun during the course of the day, one looked over the pool facing the sea, a great spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast or sundowners! The other faced towards the mountains, both had plenty of shade.
Kayalar is a small local village so you really need to have a car to get to the shops, go sightseeing etc. There is one restaurant & bar in the village, the Red Wine which is about a 10 minute walk from the villa we found the food to be good and not expensive given it's the only one.
