Can't say enough great things about Snowplacelikehome, Chalet de la Vanoise!! From the time you arrive until you depart, you will be pampered with some amazing meals, drinks, and people. Don't forget the outdoor hot tub over looking the mountains and the large sauna after a long day of skiing!! Perfect location and if the weather is good, like it was for me, then you literally ski out from the chalet in the morning and ski right back in when the day is done!! If rentals and lift passes are needed, Lee and Kevin go out of their way to make sure everything is there so you don't miss a minute. Beautiful views of both the mountains and valley. Don't worry if you're not sure of the mountain layout, Lee and Kevin did a fantastic job of showing me all the great spots on the slopes!! Was able to capture some amazing photos that I'd probably miss if it wasn't for them!! I will definitely be booking my holiday here again next time!! Thank you again Lee and Kevin for an amazing holiday!!
I' m Jacopo from Italy,I stayed at the chalet for one week and it has been amazing. The place is perfect and very well futnished.the hot tub outside the chalet is wonderful.rooms are very cozy, warm and nice.Kevin and Lee are perfect hosts, nice easy going and helpfull.the cusine is ecxellent(thanks Gearoid and Rebecca).
The chalet is very, very close to the pists.you can get there in 2 minutes walking.the ski area is huge and the pists are well looked after.
Heavily recommended.5 stars place!!!!
I cannot imagine a more perfect base to ski from! The chalet itself has everything a skier could need or want. As well as practical considerations such as the automatic boot driers, there are no end to the luxuries on offer; a fabulous hot-tub where you can watch the sun set over the valley, a sauna, and the sort of power-showers that you only ever see in movies!
The welcome when we arrived was wonderful; both Kevin and Lee (the owners) were on hand to provide exactly the sort of advice on where to ski for the conditions that any newcomer to the area would want. Groad and Becca were outstanding chalet hosts, providing a constant stream of culinary delights. I can't tell you how good it was to come in exhausted from a day on the slopes to find a freshly baked Victoria sponge, or brownies waiting for us.
Breakfast and dinner didn't disappoint either- as well as the usual breakfast fare, I was offered apple and cinnamon French toast, and my personal favourite was the raspberry cheesecake pancakes. Well, let's face it, you're on holiday so you might as well indulge!
Dinner was an event in itself, masterfully created and served with the type of flair you would expect from a top-class restaurant. The wines have been expertly selected by Lee and Kevin, many of which are local.
As far as location is concerned - it is possible to ski and and ski out depending on the conditions. During my stay it was a short walk down to the chairlift which whisks you up into the La Plagne ski area. The astonishing Vanoise Express cable car can be reached in a matter of minutes, and this carries you across to Les Arcs. Together, these two resorts make up one of the largest ski areas in the World. To say this chalet is in a great location would be a major understatement!
I had a fantastic holiday here, and simply cannot recommend this chalet enough!
Everything about La Vanoise made for a fantastic holiday. Our first ski trip to France, and the location is absolutely superb. With the right conditions, you could certainly ski out of the chalet, but in the worst case, its a 200m walk to the piste, and great lift connections to the whole of Paradiski, with its absolutely vast array of well maintained ski-runs. The chalet itself is very comfortable, traditionally and tastefully decorated, and with plenty of space for everyone. The sauna and hot-tub were lovely touches which we used every day, and the ski/boot/drying room was very practical. The catering was exceptional and the staff, Rebecca and Geroid (hope I spelt it correctly), were so friendly and accommodating. My son is a bit of a fussy eater, but they were able to conjure up something delicious for him every day, while our three course evening meals were consistently excellent. And finally, a word about the hosts - Kevin and Lee. Friendly, knowledgable, always there to help, and great fun. But also gave us our space so we never felt like they were intruding. I challenge anyone to find somewhere more homely, better value for money, or better quality than this in the French Alps.
Lee and Kevin are very welcoming, all the staff friendly and helpful. The place is beautiful, the views stunning and the food was out of this world. Catered for vegeterians and restricted diet, nothing was too much trouble. Loved the hot tub on the terrace! Thank you so much for a very memorable stay.
