Okay so where do I start from...
We were picked up at Esplanade in a AC bus, the AC was working properly even for such a big bus, seats clean and but could be more comfortable, we stopped for break at a very clean resturant.. The journey to Godkhali was pleasant with different side of westbengal.
But good words stop there. The process from the bus to the boat was an ordeal, many boats cramped up in a small pier and individual boat managers trying to get their own passengers on their boats which was dangerous for elderly.
The boat was in itself good and comfortable, the ride was long but pleasant and relatively fresh experience..
The hotel was well structured with Lilly pond etc. The room was surprisingly great and clean. The bathrooms were clean too.
When it comes to the attractions like sunset point or bird island it was very underwhelming. Couldn't see any birds, the next day whole day we were on a boat safari and we saw nothing. Absolutely nothing. No animals, no birds, just plain same view of water and horizon for 7 long hours.. The watch towers just gave us a view the whole forest but didn't make up for the effort to reach there climbing so many steps.
The evening arrangements were to be frank lack lustre and not enjoyable, have seen better tribal dance and baul singing at shantiniketan.
Food. Nothing to talk about there. Very basic necessities for survival. Bread with semiconductor grade 3nm wafer thin cucumber and tomato with pinch of Mayo was called sandwich.. The daal was as watery as river we watched whole day.
The service staff was ok. The behaved well. But howuch could they compensate for the cost cutting food.
One mention about the lunch where they did spend was that they provided ilish fish. But they didn't have a backup safe chicken dish for many who might not like the ilish fish. Such basic consideration are absolutely need for hospitality.
