Had a great long weekend stay (especially as the weather was so good!). The cottage is comfortable and clean with lots of character. The kitchen was well equipped and a good size. The bedroom was huge with a comfortable super king size bed. We found the location to be good. It's just a 10 min drive to the beach at Brancaster. We visited the many lovely places along the coastline from Hunstanton to Cley next the Sea. Lots of great beaches, independent shops, art galleries and good pubs. We would recommend the Duck Inn at Stanhoe (just 5 min drive from the cottage) and the Crab Hut at Brancaster Staithe for a crab or seafood baguette. There is also a handy fish and chip opposite the cottage and a pub at the far end of the village (15 min walk). We would stay again.
Beautiful cottage, been refurbished and decorated to a high standard. Kitchen very well equipped. Close to Burnham Market and the beaches of Hunstanton and Wells-next-the-sea. A bottle of wine was there upon arrival which was a nice touch. The downside was that this cottage is on a main road and was noisy with the passing traffic very early in the morning and there are no curtains, only blinds at the windows in the bedroom which don't stop the light in the morning either. We stayed for 3 nights but didn't sleep very well any of the nights and for this reason we wouldn't return.
The transformation of this old listed hardware shop into a holiday cottage is remarkable. It has been accomplished extremely well. On opening the door we were impressed by the spacious and comfortable living accommodation. The kitchen is modern and well equipped. Upstairs the bathroom is modern, bright and very functional. The huge bedroom with its vast comfortable bed is a delight. Being a listed building there are a few quirks like squeaky floorboards and an antique opening window in the bathroom, but these really just add to the character of the place.
We spent a very happy week there especially as we found the welcome provision of a bottle of bubbly and two glasses on the table on arrival a friendly act. In the kitchen supplies of milk in the fridge, tea and coffee in a cupboard were very handy.
Docking is a large village with many traditional cobble style houses. The only pub - the Railway Inn - does excellent meals, and the Old Hardware Shop is only a stone's throw from the local fish and chip shop.
We enjoyed excursions to Old Hunstanton with its excellent sandy beach, a couple of stately homes, lunch at Sandringham, and shopping at Well-next-the-Sea. The cottage is an excellent base for touring the North Norfolk area which seems very popular with bikers, walkers and bird watchers.
My wife and I stayed in this wonderful little cottage in Docking and what a lovely time we had staying here. This is a little Gem in a lovely village with good amenities, ideal for access to lots of great places in Norfolk. The owners are really nice people and are very accommodating. Would definitely stay here again.
