Came to Elsewhere after a week in Benaulim, prices were noticeably more but that was to be expected and still excellent value compared to eatign in the UK. Running cost for the resort must be high as there are also security guards day and night. We stayed in the bakery and could sit on looking at the beach and sea, wonderingt who could not feel anythign but relaxed with the views. Not as isolated as expected, at low tides you can walk miles along the coastline visiting villages. Absolutely lovely food, amaxing how something as simple as Tikka can set the tastebuds alight. Favourite was Goan prawn curry, I do not use every last scrapping of curry sauce very often but this was sublime. Restaurant was a simple structure and the floor was soft sand.
Walk to breakfast and meals was a good five minute walk through the centre of the island along sandy path, but again this helped give the feeling you were alone. Even during the day, there were other houses on the island but iy you wanted to you could be alone all day. Good torches required returning at night.

We travelled to Elsewhere for the first time in Jan 2010 on a romantic break, which also included 5 star resort hotels in Goa as well as on our stop over in Delhi and Agra for the Taj. Whilst it was all amazing and breathtakingly opulent, we fell in love with the barefoot simplicity and warm smiles at Elsewhere.

We have just spent a week in that little pie e of heaven for the second time, having also taken our sons 6 and 12 along. The team at Elswhere are amazing, as is the food and of course the beaches! The boys loved it and we'll be back for more.

If you're looking for glitz and glamour or all the mod cons, Elsewhere isn't for you. It's not ideal, either, for those who crave excitement, all-night raves and action. It's pretty much perfect, though, if you're interested in relaxing in an idyllic location, enjoy stylishly simple accommodation and have an appetite for tasty food (mainly Western breakfasts, but great curries and tandoor dinners). As an added bonus, the sweet-natured staff can't do enough to help you. We loved it.

This has to be so far the greatest place I have been. From the second we there was nothing we ever needed for. The staff where so friendly never anything too much for them. Will arrange all you need. The food could almost out do the surroundings. From the empty beach to the beautiful lounger right in the centre. You will be hard pressed not to feel like a celeb or royalty. If you ever go to go to north Goa it's worth the travel and the cost you will never be disappointed with it. But remember it is well out of the way, keep that in mind. But worth it in the end.

We usually stay at the large 5 star resorts, but we decided to try something different. We were really happy with Elsewhere. It's totally unique, and you really do feel removed from the rest of the world....we would definitely go back! It's not often we find ourselves in the middle of nowhere, with no tv or internet...just us, a deck of cards, a beautiful beach, some good wine and great food.

Pros:
-completely removed and isolated from the commercial highly populated Goa -- there are no other hotels nearby
-great restaurant (although only 1) that brings in fresh fish/produce daily for your meal
-very personable staff ...we felt like we were lucky they were sharing this place with us
-unique, rustic cottages (although there are a few cons to these)
-probably like nothing you've ever experienced
-amazing to get away from tv/internet (although available if you want it) and the world...you feel isolated in a GREAT way...you essentially have the huge beach to yourself
-HUGE beach that is beautiful
-great security all around property

Cons:
-the cottages are definitely rustic with very basic amenities. It was perfect for a weekend, but if there for a week, I may have been a little frustrated. Bathrooms are non-A/C so if very hot outside it's not fun!
-the a/c took a while to cool our room in such heat. i think during the in-season it would be better, but it was just so hot and there was only 1 smallish a/c for a large space
-the beds aren't' really beds...they are more like mattress pads on a slab of concrete -- no springs. those who need a good bed should be warned.
-this could be a pro to some, but because when we were there is was extremely hot, we did not love all the walking. our cottage was the furthest away from the restaurant, so by the time we got there (about 7 minute walk) we were sweating!

I would recommend this place to a certain type of person. The high-maintenance (which usually is me, but I enjoyed a step out from the norm) probably wouldn't enjoy...but for something different, give it a shot!! We loved it!!
