Stuck in the central plateau thanks to closed roads south, and referred to Tokaanu Lodge by the information centre in Turangi. Getting late in the day, was really happy to get somewhere so warm and handy. Might be look a little old; but clean, warm and perfect to hunker down in the storm. Pools were great as well. Kids loved it.

Thanks Gail and Belle.

The service was awesome. The unit was warm, spacious and dry. It was ideal for our stopover on our way south. And the complex is pet friendly, which made our stay much easier.
We will definitely be making Tokaanu Lodge Motel our stopover of choice.

Blue and Gail are treasures. Blue has a wealth of knowledge about the area, the culture and the flora and fauna. We loved the thermal mineral bath after our Tongariro Crossing. And they produce some beautiful saffron and free range eggs, too!

I've stayed here in a chalet-type unit several times over the past few years and it hasn't changed much. There's a friendly welcome, spacious accommodation, clean facilities, kitchen with cooking options and range of equipment available; good light in the bathroom for make-up or shaving; bonus of a relaxing hot pool soak or warm swim; nice grounds with birdlife nearby; well-located for breaking a long journey through the island or for outdoor recreation. Units include options for couples, families, or groups of friends;fairly reasonable price. Minor negatives that would not put me off returning are: prefer two towels allocated per person (not one), a little road noise, maybe it needs a little updating. Recommended for mid-range budget and when you want to self-cater; remember to bring your own supplies unless your are happy to drive to Turangi to shop.

Visited with family over Christmas. Spread out over 3 units and the owners were friendly & so helpful with anything extra we needed for our big shared family Xmas dinner like utensils dishes etc. A great place for a family get together
