“Perfect tranquil retreat.”

We were a party of 3, 2 adults & our 3 year old son, travelling to Crete in late season. Firstly, the weather was amazing, high 20s every day, perfect sunbathing weather and not too hot to explore the beautiful surrounding area.
The villa is 2 minutes from the village of Armenoi up a small fairly steep road, it's pretty much at the top of a hill so the mountain views are lovely. We walked to the village some nights to eat, 15 minutes down the hill, bit longer on the way home but by then you will have 1/2ltr of village wine and several Rakis to aid your progress back home!
The villa itself is a beautifully stylishly restored traditional house. We had a welcome gift of fruit and delicious sweet red wine, which was a nice touch. Beds were comfortable, linen and towels spotlessly clean and changed during our 1 week stay. Although on the small side, the inside space had a light airy feel, we spent most of our stay in the beautiful outside space anyway. The pool was clean and warm enough to enjoy even so late in the season, the pool area is lovely with plenty of seating and great views. We enjoyed the BBQ too, the butcher in the village does great souvlaki.
The beach at Kalyves is only minutes away by car and is nice enough, but we preferred Almyrida (better for little ones) which is just another 10 minutes drive.
We loved our stay in Crete and will definitely return.

“Pleasant villa near Armeni”
Reviewed 20 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

The villa is in a very good location with lovely views of the mountains, and just above the charming village of Armeni with its pretty church, nice restaurants, good bakery and butcher. Also within very easy driving distance of Kalyves, very good for general shopping, coffee and such, but rather overwhelmingly full of British tourists. One thankfully hears a bit more Greek in Armeni. Kalyves has a good beach too, though we found several others just a short drive away. The villa itself is very plain and simple but with comfortable beds and good air-conditioning which we used a couple of times when the temperature was in the 30s, TV sets which we never used, and Wi-Fi. The pool was very clean and pleasant with a good array of comfortable chairs and tables beside it, though they were not used much as they were in the sun and the only parasol was broken - this should be replaced. It would have been nice to have better cooking pots in the kitchen – just one frying pan and one saucepan of reasonable size, but two vast cooking pots suitable for an army canteen. The oven and hobs worked well,as did the toaster and the kettle, all essential for anyone like us, cooking for themselves most of the time. We ate outside on the patio and it was very pretty in the evening with all the lights around the pool and garden, the lights of distant villages, and sometimes music floating up from the village below. We greatly enjoyed the quiet, marred only at times by a neighbour’s rather persistent, yapping dog. It is important to be adequately provided with insect-repellent spray – and treatment for bites, as I found to my cost. . I rather regretted there was no folder of useful local information such as one generally finds in holiday rentals. The villa was regularly cleaned by the charming and very thorough Tina. We were welcomed very briefly by Mina who led the way to the villa for us from Armeni, , and we saw Antonis when he came to clean the pool. My daughter and I had a lovely holiday apart from the bites. Thank you.

A lovely, comfortable villa, with great outside seating areas to enjoy the pool and views of the surrounding mountains. Set in a peaceful and private location above the friendly village of Armeni. Ideally situated to visit both the North and South coast. We would definitely stay again. Thank you to Antonis and Mina for making our arrival so easy.
