The accommodation is simply perfect and of a high quality. The pre and post booking communication meant we felt welcome before we even arrived. It felt as if our enjoyment was a high priority of the owners and they got pleasure from that. The location is quiet with plenty of wildlife to spot. The setting by the river was stunning and we spent hour after hour lost in thought sitting on one of the two balconies sipping tea. It is possible to not leave the marina and forget your own world exists. It is also a great base for days exploring the countryside and towns nearby.
As this is to guide you in making a choice of whether to book or not, I had better tell you the bad points. However, I can't. There weren't any. Book and enjoy. I am convinced you will not be disappointed

Location brilliant. Facilities excellent. Dog friendly what more could you need? Easy to travel to from London. Hosts welcolming and attentive to our needs. Although the weather was mixed it still was a pleasant location and the calm of the lodge made it an enjoyable experience. There were facilities such as shops and pub within walking distance or a short drive which meant it felt countrified without the isolation. If the weather had been better it would have been great for fishing or canoeing or just walking! Ely and Newmarket are a short drive away and the larger market town of Bury St Edmunds is about 20 mins away and worth the journey. A good location from which to explore both Cambridgeshire and Suffolk depending on your tastes and brilliant if you want to see Ely Cathedral.

Having looked long and hard for a short break for my family of 6 I found River Lark Lodge.
I read the reviews and booked our 3 night stays, Well we as a family loved the lodge, the kayaks the boats the canoes the fishing (only caught 2 though!) the accommodation was immaculate, and Todd was on hand to offer advice on where to visit and see, the location is perfect, we visited Ely, Thetford forest and Bury St Edmunds, I would recommend this for anyone thinking of staying somewhere that offers a great family experience we had our 4 children 21, 18, 13, and 9 they all enjoyed it!! will be booking again Thanks Todd and Shizuka, it was GREAT

“A beautiful place for a quick get away!!”

A beautiful location for a quick get away with the family. Booking was quick and easy.

The owners, Todd and Shizuka, were very welcoming and provided a clean, comfortable and well equipped place to stay that suited both adults and kids. They were very helpful and provided guides for the local area. They even posted us back our hair dryer that we had left behind!!

It was only a short walk away to a small village where there was a co op shop. Other towns were only a short drive away.

Beds were very comfortable, kitchen was well equipped, the bathroom was clean and spacious and there were picturesque views from both balconies. Tv, DVD player, soundsystem, quick wifi and a range of DVDs to watch.

A lovely view of the river and marina. We were provided with a bbq, kayaks, a row boat and life jackets which made the kids very happy. There were lots of fish for the kids to fish for in the river. The area also seemed very safe so I was happy to let my kids play outside while I was cooking.

Overall a brilliant place to have a quick get away. Would definitely go again.

“As ALWAYS fantastic.”

My 5th stay at "River Lark Lodge" this time though at the newly revamped lakeside lodge. The welcome has not changed and is as wonderfully warm as ever. The lodge is equipped to a very high standard and if we were short of anything, baring in mind we were the 1st to stay here, Shizuka & Todd made sure it was with us ASAP. With Ely on the doorstep, North Norfolk a short drive away plus a host of other places to visit there is never a shortage of things to do. The fishing is serenely relaxing and the wild life/bird life fantastic. We will be returning again (and again).
