Had a lovely stay at Three Bears Cottage. The heatwave was wonderful Derbyshire bathed in lovely warm sun
Three Bears suited us perfectly. 3 adults and two dogs enough room for us all. what can I say about using an Aga we now consider ourselves as trainee Aga-nauts. Will be visiting local friends who love their Agas to learn more about these wonderful ovens. you do have to have good core muscles to place and take out the Le Cruset pots but its worth it.
This house was good value and was well situated for touring the Peak District. 15 minutes from Chesterfield, 10 minutes from Bakewell meant that all your needs are easily met. House is relatively small but was fine for us - a family of four. Cooking can only take place on an aga which some may not like but having grown up with a range was no problem at all. Wardrobe full of games and jigsaws was great for the kids and therefore us.
nice and quiet, peaceful, isolated from main attractions, which for us was a good thing
handy little shops in village
Good base for walks, lots of historical interest, pretty villages and good places to eat.
The aga cooker was a talking point! never used one before so was pleased to have an electric kettle as an alternative! The owner had kindly left a bottle of prosecco, but there were no tea bags and the little village shop close by did not sell them. The shop owners kindly gave my husband a handful of their own tea bags, so advise you to take your own tea and coffee. We still had a lovely time!
