Living in a coastal Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the UK, we usually gravitate towards the sea for holidays, and are probably tough customers to satisfy, scenery-wise. As our first venture into an inland ( for us..!) venue, and Italy, Casa Natalina did not disappoint. A lovely, down-to-earth villa, we had everything needed to allow us to enjoy our week in comfort, and with all the facilities we have at home for day to day living. There were huge amounts of outdoor space available - photos understandably emphasise the pool and balcony areas, but there is also a lot of amazing wildflower meadow and many fruit trees. The Garfagnana is spectacular, densely wooded mountains soaring up to the sky all around..Nights around a wood fired barbecue admiring the view were followed by amply supplied games and wine around the big indoor fireplace. Yes, it's around 2 hours from Florence etc but...
Arriving late at night, it seemed to take a long time to negotiate the winding roads which access Casa Natalina. Then we had to stop, to allow a porcupine to cross the road, At this point it all began to make sense...
