In the words of our six year old “it was awesome, I loved it, the dog was amazing!”
We all had a fabulous time in the beautiful area of Dumfries and Galloway. Amazing beaches, interesting castle with gorgeous tea room, wildlife in abundance, extremely welcoming hosts who shared their home grown produce, very relaxing for everyone. Lots of extras for children including a ping pong table, Lego and of course a fabulous garden with swing and trampoline. Gino the dog added another element to our already fabulous stay, being the friendliest dog in the world!
We would definitely recommend to others and hope to come back again!
We had a great holiday here. The house was perfect, felt very warm and homely. Laura and Allan were very welcoming and helpful. Our kids loved trips to nearby Mabie Farm Park, Cream of Galloway and the Coco Bean Factory. Our dogs also enjoyed the surroundings with plenty good walks nearby. Our kids and dogs also loved the farm dog - Gino.
We had a fantastic week at Dunmuck with extended family, from age 6 months upwards, and our dogs. It was perfect for all of us from the tranquillity of the valley to the giddy excitement of the trampoline. We particularly enjoyed the farm walk because of the beauty of the location and also Laura told us so much about the social history of the valley, the people who have come and gone, fortunes gained and lost. Fascinating! We also spent time on the beach at Sandyhills and had some retail therapy in Castle Douglas.
The house was very comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed for the week. We loved the sun room full of geraniums and an apricot tree and we ate there every day. That and the fig tree and vines outside made us feel as if we were in rural France! The garden is full of birds, including a pair of woodpeckers, and red squirrels are regular visitors too.
We didn't make use of the outdoor bath, partly to save water in this exceptional weather and partly because we had cloudy skies at night. Fortunately it gives us a reason to go back for a return visit!
My family had a fantastic holiday at Dunmuck. It is set in a beautiful rural location with plenty around the farm to keep our young children happy. Favourites included the tree swing, trampoline and various animals nearby. The farmhouse itself is well equipped and had everything we needed. Laura and Alan were very helpful and welcoming. We also loved Gino the springer spaniel.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dunmuck for a week, fell in love with the house and stunning gardens. ❤
If you love rural locations, walks along the coast and wildlife then this is the place for you! Set in the forest with breathtaking views that surround you.
The house is lovely, like a home from home, with all the home comforts you could possibly need and more, we enjoyed most evenings relaxing in the sun room and playing endless games of ping pong, which was great fun!
There is plenty for the children to enjoy, such as the trampoline, and old oak tree swing, tennis courts a short stride away down the lane, and kayaking.
We were very lucky to have fabulous weather during our stay, and enjoyed days in the beautiful garden watching the wildlife come and go. Some of the sightings were woodpeckers, red squirrels, cuckoo's, owls and other birds of prey, we even saw a baby deer
Laura and Alan were very lovely and welcoming, and very attentive if we needed anything, and Gino the dog is just adorable ❤
We look forward to returning to Dunmuck farm in future
