“Absolutely excellent”

If my review sounds familiar it is because the essence of Le Grand Hermitage is easy to appreciate and others have come to the same conclusion!
Papillon is a beautiful, well equipped villa in a lovely, tranquil location. Richard and Barbara are always friendly and helpful without ever intruding on your privacy. Do get Barabara to cook a meal for you as we had a superb and very enjoyable meal in excellent company. All the extra little touches helped to make our stay special - not least the welcome picnic which was a real treat. Highly recommended!

“Simply stunning”
Reviewed 15 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

It would be easy to sound hyperbolic when describing the utterly wonderful time we had at Le Grand Hermitage but, believe me, I am not exaggerating when I say this is one of the most wonderful holidays we have ever had.
From the moment we arrived, the owners Barbara and Richard could not have been more lovely. They provided us with a delicious welcome hamper and there were some amazing touches such as our initials on our pillows and ice cubes ready in the freezer. The accommodation is beautiful; tastefully decorated and of such high quality. There is a real sense of space- so often accommodation for only two people can be poky and small- this is NOT the case with Papillon. The kitchen is superbly stocked and life is made easier by the dishwasher and ample surfaces for preparing meals.
The bathroom is hotel-standard with a huge walk-in shower and high-quality ceramics. In addition, there is a large roll top bath which was wonderfully indulgent!
We were there at the end of August and it was very warm on a night- I learnt to sleep with freezer blocks in bed with me but I'm sure that at other times in the year it wouldn't be an issue at all!
We were delighted with our private garden and comfy loungers and we barely left! The pool is warm and, pleasingly is salt-water rather than chlorinated. Lavender bushes line the pool and are beautifully fragrant.
We really value privacy and peace and quiet- all of which we enjoyed (in abundance) during out two week stay. Yes, the pool is shared with the neighbouring apartment but we rarely saw our neighbours and Le Grand Hermitage lends itself to privacy-loving, considerate guests anyway, so it genuinely felt entirely secluded. Also Richard and Barbara are warm and friendly but never intrusive- they entirely understand their guests' need for R&R- they are wonderful people.
By the end of the two weeks my husband and I felt so refreshed and relaxed- We had 13 glorious days enjoying the sunshine, the butterflies, the peace and quiet and the adorably tame hens!
Le Grand Hermitage is utterly enchanting and it was with very heavy hearts that we left.
Honestly this is one of, if not the best place we have ever stayed- please don't go!

“A lovely stay - 3 days nowhere near long enough!”
Reviewed 3 September 2012 for a stay in August 2012

We only stayed for 3 days - because that was the only vacant period when we wanted to go. 3 weeks would be better if you want to make the most of both the property and the general area! Barbara and Richard made us very welcome, and were very helpful when asked for anything, though otherwise they were careful not to disturb us. We stumbled on the Foire aux Huitres at Bouzigues which was great fun, and there are plenty of places to visit in the general area. All in all a lovely place to stay.
