Stayed for work but was impressed with the friendly staff and warm, homely atmosphere. Single room was small but cosy and well decorated. Pleasant breakfast too. Not sure W-S-M would be my choice for a holiday - but if you're going there then I can recommend this place based on my stay.

Overall a nice hotel with a good central location. Food and service are variable from good to average depending on the menu. soup was poor, carvery meal qyuite good but the other meals not the standard expected from the brochur. breakfast were generally good.
The room was dissapointing, we had three steps inside our room which were an absolute nusiancve especially at night when half awake you forget they are there. In fact they are a danger hazard especially to older folk like ourselves. However, when we spoke to the manager and receptionist they did try to find us another room but since the house was fully booked this was not possible so we had to grin and bear it! otherwise we felt the room was not as clean as it could be and was also subject to noise from the cider festival outside our window. Had we known this event was on we would have chosen alternative dates. Iwould stay there again purely because of location but I would book my room with greater care.

Room Tip: Be sure of what you are booking e.g no interior steps

Having read the recent reviews I dont think I stayed at the same hotel and actually checked the photos to make sure.

We were staying in the 4 poster room at a rate of £120. The problems started when we arrived and there was no where to park as the car park is a Public car park with only a few spaces reserved for the hotel. We parked in the overflow car park which was actually the Garden/Green area of the hotel.

As soon as we walked into the room we were disappointed, it was dull with a shabby four poster bed. The room was dated with old decor that hasnt been touched for years. The paint on the skirting boards was flaking off and the paper on the ceiling was coming away. The TV was an old style on a rickety trolley, the batteries for the remote control were kept in by nasty brown tape.

The bathroom was also dated, there was an old yellowing slip mat hung over the bath and the shower curtain was orange at the bottom and obvioulsy had never been cleaned.( It is not difficult I have worked as a cleaner in hotels). The flooring was a cheap lino that had seen better days.

The hotel also appears to have been a victim of the health and safety brigade. There are numerous stickers all over the room advising me that the hot water will be hot, baths will be slippery and if the shower curtain is not in the bath water will drip onto the floor.

All in all I would not stay at this hotel again.

We weren't staying at the hotel, were just a walk in on a Monday night for a meal. We were offered a tiny table in a very tiny crowded area, and so ask if there was another table. We put a on a platform area up by the piano which seemed like a better option initially. But I wish we had left then, s we soon realised we were by the carvery, which turned out to be very hot and also the chefs were serving the carvery right next to our table. The restaurant was a bit tired and old fashioned. and was virtually empty apart from the first area they had squashed a lot of people in, I got the impression the space further back was reserved for guests and the walk'ins got the worst areas. The piano was quite loud but not a huge problem as he would just play for a few minutes and then chat to his friends and have a drink in between each number.
The food sounded good and we made our orders which were taken quite quickly. We had wine and water with our meal, which arrived quickly. First course was supposed to have the options of bacon lardons on and there were none. although we had been asked if we wanted them. We tried to get the attention of the waitresses, but couldn't and decided to just eat it before it got to cold. It was ok but not quite what we had expected and portions were small.
Main courses were disappointing and delivered by what looked like a senior staff member ( no name tag) also carrying along with my plate a lot of paper work and pen, she dumped it on the table and walked straight off doing her paper work. We had wanted another glass of wine but had no opportunity to ask and couldn't get the attention of the waitresses fawning over some hotel guests that had just arrived.
The lamb Kleftico was only a lamb shank with separate veg and was quite dry. The chicken was luke warm, although the leek sauce was nice there was only a dribble. Veg were under cooked and not particularly warm. We chose to leave before a sweet.
We should have` complained there and then but as this was a special occasion for us and had been such a disappointed we didn't want to spend any more time worrying about it and I needed to leave as it was so hot by the carvery I needed some fresh air.
It was £53 for 2 starters, 2 main meals and 2 glasses of wine. Really not worth it, so seriously go somewhere else, On a monday night there is not much choice in weston, but I would have enjoyed a bag of chips on the sea front more than I enjoyed that.

The sun was shining we wanted to be on a beach so we set off for Weston about 80 mins away. We phoned ahead and booked the royal £105 b& b. We had a great time. We travel widely and have stayed at some amazing hotels but for sheer Relaxation friendly staff and a lovely room this hotel cannot be beaten. The weather was good and Weston had a nice buzz about it. Excellent for an overnight adventure
