This is not far from Banchory and a lovely walk by the river Dee if you’re happy to do a flat walk of about 1:5 Miles. There is a lovely cafe/ restaurant where you can get good scones, bacon rolls or full lunches. By the cafe there is a collection of craft shops and a gallery. Small play park fir kids behind the cafe and access to the river. If you’re feeling energetic you can continue to walk the Deeside way to Milltimber from here. Great for sunny days as you can sit outside or in on a rainy one.

Visited on a day when the station was closed but the shops were interesting, the gallery catered to a range of taste and the play area fun.

Small gift shop with a good range of things for adults and crisps and an ice cream freezer, the shop takes credit and debit cards which is handy!

Fun things to do in a beautiful setting.
You can wander around the station and take a trip on the vintage railway and have tea on board.
It is beautifully maintained by a friendly and knowledgeable staff. They are extremely helpful. It will be a real bonus when the track is expanded further.

What a bargain.. a mile or so on an authentic steam train with vintage carriages and your ticket lasts all day. Friendly knowledgeable staff and a great shop and little museam. Don't hesitate to go.

Attended Milton of Crathes station & boarded an old steam driven locomotive named Salmon, this locomotive was named in honour of the crew of HMS Salmon a submarine that was lost with all hands in 1940.
On this particular weekend cream teas were being served onboard, & all staff were dressed in period costume, there was even a magician walking up & down the train performing for the passengers, he was a great success with the children.
Unfortunately cream teas are not served every weekend as this train is run solely by volunteers, Nonetheless it was a fabulous day out, albeit it rained a little, but this is Scotland!
Well worth a visit.

A wonderful family day out. Steam train only runs on certain days so check the timetable on line before you go.
