Our kids love the play park here, it's right on the river and the setting is quite picturesque... you can park here and walk up to crathes castle along the small river. The shops and gallery aren't to everyone's taste, but it's well worth a stop

A pleasant group of historical buildings and a nice view of the river. The trains did not appear to be running whilst we were there. One of many wayside stops in the beautiful Dee Valley.

Got a good deal on tickets from itison. Unfortunately there was a really heavy shower whilst we were there but we still enjoyed the journey along the riverside. Knowledgeable, friendly volunteer staff of all ages made us feel welcome. Tea on board train is from a flask and not the best.

Never heard of here before until I saw it on "itison" so bought a voucher and visited at the weekend. Glad we did. Firstly the ticket is a river ticket so you can have as many trips as you like. We did two. The journey was 15-20 mins long but there is a break of 20 mins between journeys. Lovely scenery.
The buffet car is on the train with teas, coffees, cans, packets of crisps and little packets of biscuits/shortbreads.
The volunteer staff are so knowledgeable and so friendly.
Something to note is we didn't see any picnic tables but there is a grassy area that is designated for picnics.
We will certainly be visiting again.

Fantastic that a part of the old railway line has been restored as have the carriages. Diesel and steam engines alternate. We were fortunate to be on the steam train. What fun to experience a bit of yesteryear. The conductor was very informative, a wonderful Gentleman. A great time was had by all.
