I love the gardens and historical church at the back. Although the history may not be very interesting, it is still a historical place.

“Must visit”

This is one of my favourite national trust properties. Really interesting to walk round and they have made it feel like it has come to life. Well worth a visit.

“A MUST TO VISIT!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 January 2012

If you ever go to Cornwall, make sure you have a visit to Lanhydrock, a beautiful National Trust property. The house is so interesting, the gardens are beautiful and the restaurants ( the one inside and also the courtyard one ) serve excellent food. If you are partial to a Cornish Cream Tea, theirs is very good! A lovely way to spend a day!

“Lovely house, hopelessly run restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 December 2011

We took my mother out for a pre-Christmas treat, thinking the restuarant at Lanhydrock House would be a good idea. The bits of the house that were open were nice and festive, but the main purpose for this visit - the lunch - was not great.

The waitress service restaurant is in a light panelled room. For a weekend before Christmas with various attractions going on it should not have been a surprise to the NT that the restaurant would be busy. The two waitresses looked like rabbits caught in headlights as they tried to cope with a mildly busy period. We were made to wait outside in the damp, draughty corridor (with my 87 year old mother) even though there were free tables, as they were simply too busy to seat us. When we were seated it was with the advice (incorrect) that there was only soup and baked potatoes left. Our food took quite some time to come, and the food, although tasty, came in portions which made me think that wartime rationing had been re-introduced.

Next time we'll find a decent pub, although that's not easy in this part of Cornwall.
