The first thing noted is the extremely warm welcome you are met with! Nothing is too much bother, lovely friendly atmosphere, excellent customer service, the landlady has ticked all the boxes on how to run a successful business right here, food is awesome, traditional, no frills, proper home cooked pub grub - how it should be!
Beer is spot on, AMAZING value! Rooms are basic but what more do you honestly need when working away or needing an overnight bed when visiting friends??
Would highly recommend, thanks guys for a warm welcome, great stay, and a full stomach!
Would definitely book again x

We stayed over night en route to Scarborough. Lovely friendly welcome from Kelly and Joe.
She made us a lovely hot meal which was also very reasonable.
Large room with everything we needed. The only downside was that room 7 is directly over the dining room and as breakfast started early this day......6.00am ......the radio was switched on for the diners and this kept us awake. Other than that......for the price........recommended.

Lovely hotel, great welcome, and nothing too much trouble for the friendly owners of this hotel. There is lots to do and see in this quiet unusual neck of the woods, an area well worth a visit.
The staff told us the best routes to walk and tour, a wealth of local knowledge.
Rooms big and clean, nice enough suite and brilliant value. We certainly have found a lot to see and do here so will definitely be returning and soon.

Just had the best ribeye steak I've had in a long while. This is my fourth night here and have been treated really well by the very friendly staff and the owners. The hotel is a bit dated (close to 100 years I believe) but is clean, tidy and well run with clean and comfortable en-suite rooms.
There's also a connection to the 1971 film Get Carter starring Michael Caine, so I'm told.
Excellent food, good beer, sparkling company and comfortable rooms at very reasonable rates. What more could you want?
