“Pretty, cute cottage in great location”
Reviewed 12 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Stayed for a week in this lovely cottage. Close to all amenities. A perfect base to go and explore North Yorkshire. The cottage is clean, comfortable and full of character. We would definitely recommend to friends and hope to return.

“Cosy cottage”

We stayed at Primrose cottage for 3 nights an had a lovely stay. It had a lovely warm feel to it, with wooden flooring and an open fire.

We ventured to Whitby and York during the daytime and spent the evenings in Pickering, eating twice at The Bay Horse Inn where the food was fantastic value for money.

The cottage is just a 10 min walk from local pubs and shops, whilst you can easily park within 50yds of the cottage.

Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to explore the beauty of Yorkshire from a warm and welcoming base.

“Cosy comfy and warm”
Reviewed 3 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

We spent a lovely New Year at Primrose Cottage. The owners instructions were clear and concise. The cottage itself was small but had everything you needed. The furnishings were very traditional and the owner had even put out a few Christmas decorations which was a nice touch. The bed was very comfy with good quality linen. All in all the cottage had lovely finishing touches throughout. Pickering itself is a good place to stay with some good pubs and eating places. Whitby, goathland and Helmsley are just a few of the many places to visit whilst staying here. I would recommend the cottage to anyone and hopefully will be staying here again in the future.

“Home from home in an interesting area”
Reviewed 30 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Stayed at Primrose cottage for 2 nights in October 2015. The cottage is well placed near to shops pubs, restaurants etc and you can leave the car and take a short walk to all of these. You cannot park directly outside the property but we managed to get a place just down the road. It's probably best to drop your bags and then go and park. We located the key easily from instructions given and found the cottage to be very cosy and immaculate with everything you would need for a short break. I took a dish cloth but tea towels are provided.
We had a small problem getting heating on and I rang the owner who rang me straight back and said the thermostat may need turning up. This sorted it immediately!
My only criticism would be that the shower pressure is not great and there is no wifi but we got that in a local pub.
We ate out on both nights at The Black Swan in town. This is a cosy pub where the food was good quality and reasonable but there are plenty of places to choose from and the cottage is right opposite a chip shop. There is a Lidl round the corner.
We ventured out to Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay and both were busy even though the weather wasn't great. We also went to Pickering railway station a short walk from the cottage and although we didn't take the train it was good to see the old steam train on the platform. We stood and watched people getting on then the driver invited us to climb up into the engine to see inside! We watched as it puffed its way out of the station! After we left the cottage we stopped in York and wandered round the sights before heading back home.
The cottage is perfect for 2 or 3 people but is probably not great for very young children due to a winding wooden staircase and a very tiny back yard. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a short break with lots of places to explore not far away. It is a cosy little cottage and feels very homely. We enjoyed our stay here.
Another positive was that we had only been home a few hours and the owner emailed me for my bank details to return my £50 deposit. It was back in my bank that evening!

Thankyou so much for your positive comments. However, I would not describe the staircase as " winding"as it only has one turn in it.

“Lovely place to stay”

Primrose Cottage is a lovely place to stay - the cottage itself is very cosy and beautifully furnished - it has lots of character and charm! The location is great, too. Pickering is a small town with a number of delightful cafes, bakeries, pubs, restaurants and shops, and the cottage is very close to all of these amenities. We enjoyed exploring the surrounding area, taking a trip on the steam train to Whitby, a day trip to York and walking in the North York Moors, and Pickering was the perfect place to come back to in the evening and then cosy up in the cottage!
