“Absolutely Fabulous”
Reviewed 19 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

Six adults stayed at two of the cottages over the New Year and they were brilliant. Very cosy, authentic olde worlde with modern amenities, bottle of wine and chocolates on arrival, plenty logs for the burner, plenty parking, well equipped and with beautiful views. I can't begin to describe how lovely they are you must visit them to appreciate all they offer.

Booked for a short break with friends. Cottage was great, separate ensuites for both bedrooms. The beds were fantastic, quite firm and the bedding was lovely. Bottle of wine to welcome us on arrival as well as the wood burner laid and ready to light. Cottage was well equipped and nice and cosy. Well equipped kitchen, comfy large lounge. Felt very spacious with four adults in it. Weather was especially kind to us during the day and lovely to come back to warm and welcoming cottage in this lovely peaceful sanctuary.

Liked best: Location, size, cosiness and value for money.
Liked least: T.v can be temperamental if trying to use it with DVDs, WI if signal slow, however these are minor niggles and did not effect our overall experience.

“Cracking cottages to stay in to explore North Yorkshire and the Moors”
Reviewed 1 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Well what can I say we have now had two great holidays staying at Low Farm. The first was August 2014 for a week and the second was for 11 nights in August 2015.

There are three cottages at Low Farm, The Croft, The Cottage and The Farmhouse and each time we stayed at Low Farm we rented all three as were holidaying as a party of 12 plus a dog. The costs for this are extremely good and you will find it very hard to find better especially in peak season.

The Cottages are well provisioned and very comfortable but the best bit in my mind is the feeling of freedom you get while staying there. It is peaceful and the wildlife in the area in fantastic. You can pretty much go any where and we did. The kids loved exploring the surrounding area especially the woods which has a river running through. We were even given permission to have a bonfire in the woods which the kids loved. We used the gas BBQ (took a bit of getting used to) with local fresh produce sourced from the many butchers located in some fantastic little towns and villages. The best one we found was in Malton when the food market was in town.

There is so much to do out and about and about. If you have English Heritage membership there are many delightful ruins to visit especially Rievaulx Abbey, Whitby Abbey and Byland Abbey. The castles around the area are also very good. We visited many the small towns on market days (be careful these can get busy in peak times). The best thing to do is look at all the tourist information supplied and the cottage welcome pack for best ideas. When visiting York the Jorvik centre is good and the York Dungeons are excellent fun (book tickets online you save loads).

In a nutshell the location is great, the days out are great, the adventuring and exploring the woods and fields is great (you will need good waterproof walking boots) and the hosts are more than welcoming and contactable for any questions while staying there. I would recommend this location to anyone wanting a holiday in North Yorkshire knowing that without doubt they will have a great time.

“Beautiful cottage in an equally beautiful setting”
Reviewed 14 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

2 of us( plus a dog) stayed for 4 nights and were immediately struck by the cleanliness of the property. It has everything needed from cooking equipment to tourist information. The beds were really comfortable and there was no shortage of hot water. The garden was beautifully kept and there was plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the view. The directions to find the property were accurate and there was no problem gaining access on arrival. We found lots of walks from the cottage and enjoyed a day trip to Whitby on the steam train from Pickering. Lastingham village and church were worth a visit. We didn't use the pub just down the road, but it would only have been a 10 minute walk. Shops are not close by, so arrive with the basics to save a shopping trip. We had no phone signal, but Wifi was good. If you want a cosy, welcoming cottage off the beaten track then this is for you

“Comfortable and well-equipped, ideally situated for exploring the NY Moors”
Reviewed 12 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We appreciated the many leaflets provided. The ordinance survey maps were a joy to find as were the books on local flora and fauna. Good TV and Wifi. After excellent days of walking, it was good to come back to a comfortable bed. Quiet and peaceful environment. Note that the property is wrongly placed on the map provided online.
