This was the second time we have visited, the first in the New Year when it was quiet, the second today. On our first visit we simply ordered, tea, coffee and cinnamon toast, they forgot to do the cinnamon toast and when it did arrive we had drunk both tea and coffee. Today we thought we would try again, arrived at 1:45, busy but were given a table, ordered the same, tea, coffee and toast. We expected a wait but once again we had drunk our tea and coffee, no sign of our toast at 2:15. So we left, paying only for the drinks, there were the usual apologies but twice in a row, no thank you.

To the manager: Your staff need to be aware of what’s going on in the cafe, who is coming in and what the orders are and to prioritise, I don’t know if the problem is with the kitchen, but there is a problem. If at busy times, patrons should be aware of waiting times, or if drinks ordered with food/snacks that all items arrive together.

We spent our money in the shop which is excellent, it’s just a shame that the two are poles apart at the moment. I doubt we will come again to the cafe, it’s just too chaotic and not well run. I can’t comment fully on the food as we don’t seem to be able to get any within a reasonable amount of time.

Went here for Sunday Lunch with friends over Easter. Extensive menu with choice of 2and 3 courses. The Angus beef was Home produced and very tender. Vegetables fresh and not over cooked. See the website for full details. You will need to book on a Sunday.

I had lunch here with my wife who is coeliac and my mother. The food was excellent and they adapted dishes to my mother’s wish for a smaller portion and my wife’s gluten free diet. The service was very good with pleasant and attentive waitresses. There was a good choice of gluten free desserts/ cakes for my wife. The location was good and the ambience was relaxed and happy. It was our first visit but will not be our last.

Thank you for your comments however in all honesty both you and I know this was not quite the full picture.
This particular Sunday was unusual as it was Mothers Day which is the busiest day of the year in the cafe, therefore we have to structure the day. We hold a Sparkling breakfast on Mother’s Day morning at 9.30 to 10.30am which was advertised on both the board and the cafe door. Between the many tables booked and families walking in this meant we were fully booked for the three course special breakfast and our small kitchen was at full capacity. Breakfasts ordered up to 10.30am where still going out after this and as I explained at the time we had to stop taking orders for breakfast so the kitchen could get finished and then turned around to make final preparations for Mothers day Sunday lunch as we were then fully booked again from 11.30am. We were however still serving Drinks and cakes for those who wanted them.
We are currently having an extension built on the Kitchen so next year on Mother’s day this will not be an issue as there will be enough space in the kitchen to run both Breakfast and lunch in tandem.
We appreciate your feedback and our apologies that you were disappointed this year.

An interesting concept with a farm shop, restaurant and mini railway - Plenty of parking and a great array of Yorkshire produce including a butchers- The food in the busy restaurant is the same good helpings of well cooked , tasty and reasonably priced food - worth pulling off the road for
