This has to be one of the best B&B's that I have encountered.
It is located literally at the foot of the crag where Sterling Castle stands, and is accessible by foot, although one does have to have the stamina to climb steps and steep walkways. But if you don't, driving to Sterling from Castlecroft is extremely easy.
Laura greeted us with welcome arms, offering us afternoon tea, with some yummy treats, and giving us detailed directions regarding how to get to town.
She made some excellent dinner suggestions and made reservations for us when we picked where we wanted to go.
She had fresh fruit for breakfast, something that we hadn't seen for the previous 10 days in Scotland. Her cooked breakfasts were FABulous. The bread for toast was home made, tender and scrumptious.
The bedroom was quiet, despite being directly across from the dining area. Breakfast is served in a room that has a door to keep out the noise from the hall.
Towels were changed daily.
The shower was obviously new and had great water pressure with lots of hot water.
Wi-fi is available throughout the entire house.
The only problem that I encountered was attempting to get the key to work in the room door. I am not used to using old fashion keys, and I had some difficulty getting the door unlocked, but my husband did not have any problem at all.
Really, you just cannot beat this place for hospitality, comfort and a delicious breakfast.

We just completed a 10-day driving trip through Scotland, and we were fotunate to spend one night with Laura at the Castlecroft in Stirling. We were a multigenerational group of four -- my wife and I, our 12-year-old-daughter, and my mother-in-law. We chose Castlecroft based on their superior rating here, as well as a recommendation from Frommer and Rick Steves.

We arrived after a busy day of driving from Edinburgh, and had just literally closed out Stirling Castle (a MUST see), when we drove down the hill to Castlecroft. As, the B&B is literally at the foot of the mountain, and in the shadow of the castle. It was very easy to find the place and Laura -- the host -- gave us a warm welcome, and introduced us to her mother. We shared a lovely quad room, which had comfortable beds and nice-sized bathroom. Laura gave us the full tour and was extremely helpful in selected a restaurant for dinner. She had menus, called ahead for us, and even provided a coupon for free drinks. The meal -- at the Boat House -- was wonderful, and we had great views back to the caste.

Laura stocks many games in the common room, and we enjoyed a family game night after supper.

We all slept very well and breakfast was a true joy, highlighted by Laura's homemade bread. Believe the reviews when they harp on the special breakfasts at Castlecroft.

Though we stayed only one night, we felt like we were saying goodbye to family when we packed up after breakfast. Castlecroft was wonderful and have to thank Laura and her mother for helping make our overall trip so memorable.

Located just below the Castle it's a short walk to the town, pub and of course Stirling Castle.
The rooms are clean, comfortable and Laura is a friendly host.
Breakfast was wonderful and our two nights were enjoyable.

We spent 3 days at Castlecroft. On our arrival we were greeted by Laura who could not have been more friendly. We were told to treat her home as our home. Breakfast was cooked to perfection and taken in a spotless dining room. Our room, like the rest of the house, was immaculate. Located at the foot of the Castle it provided great views and an ideal location for exploring Stirling and the surrounding area. We usually visited Stirling once a year, staying in a 4 star hotel. Next time we will be returning to Castlecroft..Thanks Laura for a lovely stay.

Stayed last year and just realised I hadn't done a review. As it was such a friendly B&B in a lovely quiet location, it deserves all the praise it is getting. Recall a very helpful owner doing my breakfast early and it was excellent fresh cooking at its best. Slept really well and the free wi-fi was welcome. It is a walk from town but the benefit is a lovely quiet spot with great views.
