Visited Scotland with my wife in February and used the Stirling highland hotel as our base.

I think you may have guessed this - the hotel is located in the quaint little city of Stirling - little city with bags of history and a couple of decent restaurants to eat in.

Geographically being based out of Stirling allowed us to see a number of historical sites located in the low lands of Scotland, the city is very central and pretty much equidistant between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The hotel has good spa facilities, a little bit dated but do the job.
The room is a decent size, not the biggest but certainly not the smallest, ours had a small second room with a bunk bed where you could put the kids.

We didn’t have an evening meal at the hotel, but the breakfast was very nice.

To sum up, a great little break.

This overpriced hotel set in an ex school was a disappointment. It’s redeeming factor is its central position ( 10 min walk to Stirling castle and a couple of mins to Holy Rude church)and easy parking. Carpets are thread bare in several places, rooms were not clean, towels smelt stale and seeing a grubby duvet lying around outside the laundry area over night did not inspire my husband and I with confidence.
Breakfast staff and breakfast were great.
This hotel has fantastic potential but as the school headmaster would have said 'you must try harder!

Pros:
Comfortable bed
Good value
Spacious room
Hair dryer and iron
Free parking

Cons:
Very noisy- we could hear people walking in the room above us, which kept us awake, and the door to our room was loud, so we couldn't leave or enter without waking each other up. In the morning, other guests leaving their rooms were extremely loud in the hallway.
It was too hot in our room, and there was no AC

Stayed here for two nights in July 2018. The original building is quite magnificent to see and very impressive as you approach it from the town centre; that cannot be said about the extension which houses the accommodation. The UK was experiencing a heatwave at the time and the hotel was not able to cope with the higher than average temperatures - poor ventilation in the dining area made for uncomfortable breakfasts; however, I imagine it copes quite well at other times of the year. Off-street, secured parking is a plus for this hotel. Bedroom was clean if somewhat dated.

I was sorely disappointed with the whole experience. The duvet was stained and I requested a new one, the bathroom was grubby with a cracked basin, the décor was tacky, the disabled facilities were non existent, the food was of poor pub grub quality and the staff could not have cared less.
A Premier Inn is better.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere
