The Stirling Highland is a converted school house that is now a 'rabbit warren' of halls and rooms. There is little signage in front of hotel where the taxi dropped us off. This resulted in climbing two flts of stairs with heavey bags. Entering from the rear of bldg would have been easier but still hard.
Small common rooms--there is one elevator which goes from reception to 3rd flr (marked as '1' , thats different ). There is no elevator to 2nd flr .
Te entire feel of hotel is ' old" , 'old'. Had premium rooms which weren't really different from all other rms.
Wait and room staffs are excellent ; unfortunately, when we checked in at 1300hrs on 28 Jun the receptionist on duty wasn't interested in going anywhere out of his way. This colored our perception of entre stay; although above facts are accurate.

Excellent location to the castle and city centre bars and restaurants. Quirky building with the bar lounge in the old headmasters study. We ate in the restaurant for a dinner and a breakfast, good portions. We found the staff to be very helpful. The free parking was a plus too. Our room was clean and a good size with two chairs an a table to give a sitting area.
The only thing I could fault was that the bathroom and the dressing table are ready for a renovation and after settling our bill we had to return to reception as we had been charged for breakfast on the day of check in, which would have been difficult to do as we didn’t get there until 3pm.

Had afternoon tea at t his hotel . Staff very helpful and attentive. Shame the restaurant did not have any views but well worth a visit. There is a large car parking facility where you log on the hotel computer and you get free parking

This hotel looks like a castle on the website but don’t be fooled. I reserved a deluxe double room as there were two of us. They gave us a room with a double bed, there king size room is two twins but they were all taken so they gave us a rollaway. The room is so small the suitcases had to be place standing up on the sides of our beds. There is no air vents or fans or air conditioning so the rooms are really stuffy. The front desk couldn’t recommend any restaurants, the front desk is run by young adults that were clueless. I would not return to this hotel. Oh we arrived at 12:30 went to the restaurant for lunch and had to eat in the bar as they only sit people with reservations. The bartender was sitting people in restaurant doing the bar had to take our order and serve. Food. Understaffed and they are not helpful

Room Tip: There isn’t one
