Our lovely stay in Tenby

Review of The Esplanade
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 Oct 2024
This guest house is in a very good location. Town is so close by in walking distance and the beach is just few steps away, it's amazing. Lovely staff, we felt very much at home. Our room has recently been done up and is modern. It had Lovely sea view from the side windows. Breakfast has been hit and miss, some days we had cold breakfast some days nice and warm. Staff catered for us if they ran out of some of the items for breakfast, such as mushrooms etc, they exchanged for something else. Rooms are warm and cosy if you get cold there's is heater available and a fan if your to warm, there is a hair dryer and extra pillows if you need them. Our TV was playing up so we told the staff and they sorted it out by retuning the TV. Good price for the room we had, some features are old and dated but they are slowly redoing it up. We really enjoyed our stay.

Just returned from a fantastic weekend away with my partner for my 50th birthday. From the minute we arrived we felt right at home. The premier double room was beautifully decorated and the sea view was simply breathtaking. Our dog was very welcome too. The full English on both days was piping hot and throughly delicious from the butchers sausages and bacon to the fresh bread and delicious tea. Graham on the Saturday and his sister on the Sunday were just brilliant. Highly recommend and we will be back! The whole of Tenby is very dog friendly from, restaurants to pubs and attractions they are treated like part of the family ⭐️

This is a place where they try hard to please. The place is clean, well decorated but dated. There isn’t a vanity mirror on the desk in room 25 which makes it difficult for doing your hair and makeup, but there’s a mirror on the back of the door which you can go backwards and forwards to to check your efforts lol. The bathroom was really the room that let our stay down. The taps in the sink turn forever before water appears. And don’t opt for a shower in a rush as it took a good few minutes to get warm water. The warmer the less pressure. So if you like a power shower, prepare yourself for a cold one. The floor was badly in need of redoing and made it look dirty but it wasn’t. The breakfast was good. Nice choices of cereals, fruit and berries, yoghurts, full English, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and a vegetarian option. The proprietor was very friendly and made us feel at home. We had a problem with our tv which was changed for us. Perfect location on the sea front with excellent views right near the city wall and a very short walk to the shops under the arch.

Thank you for your review. I think the idea of a mirror on the table is a good idea, and will put one there. Regards to the floor coverings, they are new carpets, so not aware of anything wrong there, unless your referring to then-suite floor which does need changing, looks dirty i suppose, but definitely not. Water pressure, i am unaware of your statement, you certainly didn’t mention that to me, but did mention the TV, which was acted upon, i bought a new one…i suppose i’m saying, if there is an issue why not mention it, i cannot fix it, unless someone tells me...

We love Tenby and stay there regularly. Our children take past in the Iron Man event and we usually stay the week in Airbnb. We also have a week there every May and another week for what is called the Iron Man Long Weekend. We have also stayed in several hotels in this beautiful part of Wales. Saying that the Esplanade for us comes out as the best place we have stayed hotel wise.Don’t be taken in by any negativity. Graham the proprietor is one of the calmest nicest gentleman you can wish to meet. Here you get the best breakfast in Tenby.Fresh fruit which is unheard of in most places, yoghurt and a delicious cooked breakfast. The hotel is also ideally situated overlooking south beach and Caldy Island. Its a stones throw from the centre of town and twenty metres from steps that take you onto the beach.Rooms are sizeable clean well presented and ours had a king size bed a first for us anywhere in Tenby.
Would I stay there again- most definately. We live an hour and twenty minutes away so whenever we want to recharge our batteries in the most beautiful town in Wales this is the hotel we would go to.It is also the cheapest hotel. Price comparisons prove this.It is one of the few that breakfast is included, cheaper than Airbnb or B&B’s.
I take my hat off to Graham and his hard working staff. For us it was top draw we had a perfect weekend and would definitely recommend the Esplenade.A lovely place.

Room tip: If you can’t park in the nearby streets an£8 a day car park near by is convenient. The nearby Clarence hotel £4.50 a pint with superb views

This was our second stay at this hotel. Disappointed with the cleaning I spoke to the housekeeper the first day of my stay and she explained that they were short staffed and apologised for rooms not being very clean. I showed her the bathroom and she said she would come back and clean it later. However she didn't come. Our bins weren't emptied or beds changed we were there for 6 nights and only had clean towels once.

If I could give this place 6 stars I would, I turned up with my family to be told that there was no sign of my booking I booked through hotels.com and they messed up. Graham and his wife are 2 of the most nicest people I've ever met and managed to move things around to accommodate us which I'm very grateful for. While me and graham were trying to figure out what had happened his wife kindly sat my fiance and 2 young daughters down and made them drinks while we were waiting. The beds were very comfortable and can't fault the breakfast either, there is a great selection for children aswell l. I can't recommend this place enough and will 100% be visiting again.

Room tip: Park in the arches car park and visit the mykonos Greek restaurant
