The food and the staff were first class. Delicious breakfast and fabulous evening meal. However, our room was not so good. It was booked as a De-Luxe room. The definition of de-luxe is luxurious or sumptuous. There was nothing luxurious about our room. Nice little touches with the Welsh blanket fabric lampshades and cushions, but apart from that it was pretty much just a functional, easy to clean room, with a hanging rail, shelves, writing desk with chair, one comfortable chair, coffee maker, kettle etc, and a bed. The view, for us, was looking out over flat roofs of the buildings below, and in our particular room, the delivery entrance where beer barrels and gas bottles were stored. Added to this were three large extractor fans with the accompanying noise. The room was very warm, with no air conditioning, so we had no choice but to have the window open,; not ideal when there are three extractor fans directly below. I did address it at the time, but was just told there were no other rooms available. We were under the impression that all rooms came with a lovely view and that there was only one type of room (that is all that was shown on the website when we booked). I’m assuming now that the balcony rooms were booked up, so taken off the website. It would have helped us to decide whether or not to book had we been aware of this. We did manage to catch a glimpse of the balcony rooms, which were pretty much the same decor, with the bonus of a large balcony with lovely views across the golf course. The evening meal was fantastic, but it would have been nice to have had the tables laid with a cloth and a real candle, in order to complement the excellent food and make the dining room a little more special for the evening.
