Great potential

Review of Fourcroft Hotel
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 15 Feb 2020
we stayed here overnight in February so we had a pretty good deal , the rooms are clearly in need of updating ,can't really say too much as this was reflected in the price we paid

The view from our room was superb, and the hospitality was fantastic, the staff were happy and nothing was too much trouble , even me changing my mind at breakfast, which was delicious by the way .. thank you

the tv wasn't working the best and the wifi in the rooms non existent .

when we closed the shutters there was black mould on the wall that can easily be removed with some thorough cleaning and the same with the seals in the bathrooms.

The hotel is obviously making improvements as you can tell as you walk in the reception area and bar and the staircase ,which are all looking lovely .

I only point this out as too me it was something that can be dealt with with no real expenditure and would make a massive difference

Once again I would like to thank the friendly staff and the chef for our breakfast

Superb view and a great location.
The rooms are a little dated but the veiw and the service makes up for that.
Great value for money if you have a view like i did.

The Blonde lady on the front desk was very nice and even went the exta mile at one point. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We stayed at The Fourcroft Hotel for a weekend. On arrival we were given our keys for a room with two single beds , asked about upgrading to a double bed we were told none available and push the beds together . Got to our room and I pushed the beds together but to my horror I found a diabetic needle under the bed which my partner nearly stood on plus tissue with blood on and a trouser belt , under the other bed more tissue . My partner went down to complain and we were given a bottle of wine and an upgrade to a double bed room . Obviously the room had just been cleaned but the beds hasn’t been moved and cleaned underneath as there was a layer of thick dust on the carpet , very poor cleaning standards. Our new room on the next floor up , well the bed was ok , the floor dropped lower as you walked from one side to the other , paint flaking off the walls and windows , couldn’t open the windows the were nailed shut , so no air could come in , tv didn’t work but we had a bottle of wine . For £90 first night and £120 for the second night I think for the poor decor and poor cleaning it’s not worth more than £65 a night and maybe two star rating . The only thing that was nice was the breakfast . The staff at the desk tried laughing the incident with the needle off but it could have been serious plus cleaners didn’t know how to dispose of the needle as they were going to put it in the rubbish until we said you need a sharps box to dispose of safety . Overall I can’t recommend this place as I stay in hotels every weekend with work this probably rates at the bottom with a one star rating . Hopefully a good clean and some paint and modern decor this hotel could be so much better as the location is absolutely perfect overlooking Tenby harbour , but I won’t be staying here again

So glad we picked the Fourcroft Hotel to stay in for a couple of nights. We upgraded to a superior room and pleased that we did. We loved the floor to ceiling window with the table and chairs, so we had a great view of the sea and the harbour. We had room 114 on the first floor, so had a super view and could hear the sea as well.

Breakfast was well organised, buffet for cereals and a waiter taking your order for tea/coffee, toast and hot breakfast. Made us feel very special.

The rooms are lovely and big, with high ceilings and good heating.

Although we didn't stay in for an evening meal, the menu looked delicious and we will definitely try next time.

Great location, short walk to the shops and pubs and down the steps/slope for the beach. Nice to be overlooking the sea, but far enough away from the tourists.

Highly recommend the Fourcroft hotel for character, old fashioned attention to detail and an amazing view.

Room tip: Upgrade to a superior room with sea view.

Reception booked us into wrong room so had to walk back to switch rooms. Camp bed prevented us using cupboards. No TV signal to relax and watch tv all weekend. A cave in Afghanistan gets TV!! Very disappointed, reception could not care less.

Booked 2 nights b&b 27-29 dec sea view. It was not cheap. Got there at 3 o'clock and given room 311. We walked into the room and it was freezing. Note on radiator fault do not use. Sea view if you stood up and craned your neck. Room and bed looked worn and tired. Best bit (we can laugh now) was flushing the toilet! If you've watched only fool and horses to Hull and back, the bit where uncle Albert hears the fog horn. That was the noise the toilet made, which in turn set a dog in another room off. Couldn't believe it so flushed again.Unbelievable!!. Straight down to reception who gave us another room. It is disappointing to see that it was given to another couple on the same day who have also written a review. The room is uninhabitable and should not be given to paying
customers.
Room 114 was better although still tired. Still problems with plumbing but liveable. View and staff good. Breakfast ok.
This is the first room we have ever refused to stay in. We come to Tenby several times a year and have stayed in lots of different accomodations. We wanted to try this hotel and paid a lot of money. Staff are the only redeeming feature. Certainly a memorable experience.

Room tip: Ring to check which room you are getting. Avoid 311
